Getting gastric surgery wasn't an easy feat for me. The NHS system seemed like a maze, making getting the support I needed challenging. After completing the tier-3 treatment, I was told the waiting time for surgery was 3 to 5 YEARS.
There was no way I'd risk my health further, so I finally had my gastric bypass surgery at GB Obesitas in Malmö, Sweden. The surgical team there is one of the best in the world, and the nursing staff is magnificent. They were a pillar of support throughout the process. I thought it'd be great to share my experience with others who would consider going to Sweden for a gastric surgery.
Dr Broden at GB Obesitas is the man to talk to! His information meetings are a safe space to learn about the biological and metabolic processes that make weight loss challenging. He'll also take you through the different surgical options and explain any risks involved. All questions are welcome!
GB Obesitas accepts private patients and referrals through the Swedish state healthcare system (equivalent to the NHS). So, the good news is that if you meet the criteria for having gastric surgery under the NHS, you can apply for S2 funding from the NHS. If successful, they will pay for your treatment in Sweden.
If you want to explore this option, I invite you to a Zoom Information Meeting on Thursday, 11 October 2023, at 7 pm GMT. Hosted by Dr Broden, Gastroenterologist, Operations Manager & CEO of GB Obesitas.
