Maternal burnout isn't just feeling tired.

It's the feeling of being needed constantly, overstimulated by noise and touch, emotionally depleted, and somehow still expected to keep going.

While herbs can't remove the circumstances causing burnout, some can support the nervous system and help us feel a little more grounded, calm and resilient: lemon balm, milky oats, tulsi (holy basil), passionflower & chamomile.

✨ A gentle reminder:
Herbs can support us, but maternal burnout isn't an individual failure or something we should be expected to 'tea' our way out of.

Sometimes what the nervous system needs isn't another supplement.

It's sleep. Help. Space. Silence. Nourishment. Community. Being cared for too. And honestly? Sometimes that's the most regulating medicine of all. 🤍

Herbal support should always be individualised. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, check the safety and suitability of herbs before using them.

Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) 🌺

With its vibrant crimson calyces and tart, refreshing flavour, hibiscus has been cherished across Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond as both a food and medicine. More than just a delicious tea, this striking plant offers a range of science-backed health benefits.

🌺 Heart supporter - May help maintain healthy blood pressure levels and support overall cardiovascular health.

🌺 Metabolic ally - Research suggests hibiscus may help support healthy blood sugar regulation and metabolic function.

🌺 Cholesterol balancer - May help promote healthy cholesterol levels, contributing to long-term heart health.

🌺 Liver protector - Rich in beneficial plant compounds that may support healthy liver function and detoxification pathways.

🌺 Hormone helper - By supporting blood sugar balance and reducing inflammation, hibiscus may help create a healthier environment for hormonal balance.

🌺 Digestive soother - Traditionally used to support digestion and ease occasional bloating and digestive discomfort.

Hibiscus is more than just a ruby-red tea - it is a herb of circulation and vitality. Energetically, it is cooling, refreshing, and gently uplifting, helping to ease excess heat while nourishing the heart and supporting the body's natural rhythms. 🌺❤️

Most people don’t actually “listen” to their body…

They react once symptoms become impossible to ignore.

But body literacy is built through observation:
tracking energy, digestion, sleep, mood, stress, and cycle patterns over time.

This is why cycle tracking can be so powerful - your menstrual cycle reflects shifts in stress, metabolism, nervous system health, inflammation, and hormonal balance.

The goal isn’t obsession but awareness.

Because when you understand your patterns, you stop guessing what your body needs 🌿

‘Listen to your body’ gets thrown around a lot… but rarely explained.

Your body isn’t speaking in vague feelings - it’s communicating through physiology: your nervous system, digestion, hormones, immune responses.

In herbalism, symptoms aren’t something to silence - they’re something to interpret.

When you start tracking patterns (not just reacting to symptoms),
you move from guessing… to understanding.

This is where herbal medicine becomes personalised.

Seasonal allergies aren’t just something your body randomly decided to do 🌿

They’re communication.

Your immune system is reacting, yes - but the why matters!

Instead of jumping straight to suppressing symptoms, what if we supported the body as a whole?

Because histamine isn’t the enemy… it’s part of a wider story involving your gut, liver, nervous system, and environment.

Think:
• calming an overactive immune response
• supporting histamine breakdown
• reducing underlying inflammation
• creating an environment your body can actually thrive in

Not every tool will work for every body - and that’s the point. Your constitution, your lifestyle, your exposures… they all shape your experience.

Healing isn’t about doing everything! It’s about doing what’s right for you!

If your allergies show up like clockwork every year, your body might be asking for deeper support - not stronger suppression.

Save this for later 🌿

We’ve normalised chronic sleep deprivation in motherhood… but that doesn’t mean it’s harmless.

Broken sleep over weeks or months impacts your:
• emotional regulation
• stress hormones (cortisol)
• blood sugar balance
• cognitive function
• nervous system capacity

That rage.
That heaviness.
That brain fog.

It’s not who you are.
It’s what your body is carrying.

In this season, focus on support - not perfection:
🌿 Nervous system → reduce stimulation where possible
🌿 Blood sugar → protein + fats to stabilise energy
🌿 Minerals → increased depletion under stress → think oatstraw, nettle
🌿 Gentle herbs → chamomile, lemon balm, tulsi → support regulation, not sedation

You don’t need more discipline, you need more capacity.

A reminder to those around: support the mother, not just the baby.

Feeling wired, burnt out, or totally flat?

Your nervous system might be running the show - and it’s asking for support. 🌿

Nervines aren’t just “herbs for anxiety.” They calm, rebuild, or gently stimulate the nervous system, helping your body regulate instead of just react.

In a world of endless notifications, stress, and caffeine, regulation is medicine.
The right nervines help your nervous system return to rhythm - so your hormones, sleep, digestion, and mood can follow.

Modern neuroscience + ancestral herbal wisdom = the support your nervous system actually needs.
