In Ayurveda, marma points are considered vital energy points where the body, mind and life force are believed to connect.

There are 107 traditionally recognised marma points throughout the body, including several on the face.

When gently stimulated through facial massage, these points can help release tension around areas such as the forehead, temples and jaw, while encouraging relaxation and a sense of calm.

It’s one of the things I love about Ayurvedic facial massage. It’s not just about the skin; it’s about taking a more holistic approach to wellbeing, helping you slow down, unwind and reconnect with yourself.

🌿 A moment for your skin. A moment for your mind. A moment for you.

Facial massage isn’t just about your face.

It’s about releasing tension, slowing down, and giving yourself a little space to breathe.

And perhaps best of all… an hour where nobody needs anything from you. 😂✨

Now that sounds like care for mind, body and soul xx

As we move into autumn, Ayurveda considers this a time when Vata energy naturally increases; cooler, drier, lighter and more changeable.

And sometimes, our minds and bodies can feel a little bit like that too.

So what can we do about it?

Well… it might all sound lovely in theory, but when you’re juggling work, kids, family, endless to-do lists and everything else life throws at you, “just slow down” can feel a lot easier said than done. 😅

You don’t need to completely overhaul your routine.

Instead, start small.
🌿 Swap one cold drink for a warm one.
🌿 Give yourself a little more structure around bedtime.
🌿 Take a few minutes for an Abhyanga self-massage with warm, nourishing oil.
🌿 Spend a couple of minutes doing a slow facial massage before bed.
🌿 Put your phone down and take five quiet minutes for yourself.

Small rituals might not feel like much in the moment, but those small steps can have a big impact on how we feel.

It’s not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about finding little moments to feel warmer, calmer, more grounded and more connected to yourself.

So this autumn, rather than adding another thing to your never-ending list…

What small ritual could you bring into your day? 🍂

3 things I stopped doing this summer that quietly impacted my wellbeing…

Summer was lovely. But somewhere between the late nights, holidays and having no school-run routine, a few of my little rituals disappeared.

And my body noticed . . .

1. My daily walks 🚶‍♀️
No school run meant no regular daily walks
which really made a difference in my mood.

2. Regular exercise 🏋️‍♀️
My usual gym routine went completely out of sync. I felt more sluggish, lethargic and a little more irritable (i’m sure my hubby will agree!)

3. My evening facial massage ✨
Late nights + travel meant I’d often just fall into bed without doing my favourite evening ritual. My sleep and ability to properly switch off definitely felt the difference.

None of these things are complicated.
None take hours.

But they’re the little things that help me feel more grounded, energised and like myself.

So, as we head into autumn, I’m bringing them back.

Because sometimes wellbeing isn’t about adding more to your life.

It’s about noticing which little things make you feel better . . . and making space for them again. 🤍

What’s one little ritual you’ve let slip this summer that you’re ready to bring back?

10 things you might not know about me… 👋🏽

1. I LOVE hot chips. 🍟 Chips with absolutely everything, if I had it my way. 😂

2. Most of the week, I work for a wonderful charity organisation. The rest of the time, you’ll find me in my treatment room or spending time (mostly yelling 😂) with my two favourite people.

3. I’m definitely not a morning person. And yes, that includes mornings after having a child. 😂

4. I’ve trained in holistic massage, aromatherapy and facial massage.

5. I could quite happily spend an entire day on the sofa watching films. But I also LOVE a night out. Balance, right? 😉

6. I have to start my morning with chai. No chai, no guarantees. ☕️😂

7. I absolutely love Ayurveda, but I’m definitely not someone who has a perfectly balanced life. I’m a work in progress, just like everyone else.

8. I love singing along to old Bollywood songs while I’m cooking. It brings me so much joy… and probably slightly less joy to anyone else in the house. 😂🎶

9. I genuinely can’t go to sleep without massaging my face — even if it’s just for one minute. It’s become my little bedtime ritual.

10. I LOVE a spicy margarita. 🌶️🌶️🍸

So, there you have it — 10 random things about me!

Now I want to know… what’s one thing I should know about you? 👇🏽

My village doesn’t look quite how I imagined it would.

It isn’t family living around the corner, ready to pop in when things get a bit much.

It’s the friends who are juggling it all too.
The ones who understand the juggle, the guilt, the exhaustion and the never-ending to-do list without me having to explain.

The ones who live their own busy lives but still check in. Who step in when they can. Who listen, laugh, vent and sometimes just sit in the chaos with you.

We might not have family nearby, but we’ve created our own little village.

Because this jourey was not meant to done all alone.

We need people who remind us to pause. To breathe. To ask for help. To take care of ourselves, too.

And that’s really at the heart of Amba Rituals.

Because when you come for a facial massage, you don’t need to organise anything, look after anyone or be responsible for anyone else for that hour.

Because perhaps self-care isn’t about doing more for ourselves.

Perhaps sometimes it’s about having a space to let go

Having boundaries.
Making time for yourself.
A five minutes to massage your face before bed.
Booking the facial instead of constantly putting yourself last.
Embracing the things that come with aging.

Because maybe getting older isn’t about trying to look younger . . . Maybe it’s about becoming more comfortable with who you are, knowing what you need and caring a little less about what everyone else thinks.

And honestly? I think that’s pretty chic. 🤍

✨ A facial massage is about so much more than glowing skin.

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a facial massage workshop with a lovely group of women aged 50+, and it was such a joy to watch everyone slow down, soften, and just… be.

It reminded me that self-care really doesn’t come with an age limit.

As women, our brains seem to have about 47 tabs open at any given moment. 😄 Whether we’re in our 30s, 50s, 70s or beyond, we’re often thinking about the shopping list, family, work, appointments… and wondering what’s for dinner before we’ve even finished lunch!

We tell ourselves we’re relaxing, but are we actually switching off?

Learning a simple facial massage ritual gave these wonderful women permission to pause. To breathe. To let their shoulders drop away from their ears. (You know the feeling!)

By the end of the session, the difference was clear—not just in the healthy glow of their skin, but in the calm, relaxed expressions looking back at me.

✨ Less tension.
✨ A quieter mind.
✨ Better circulation.
✨ A few precious minutes that belong to you.

Because facial massage isn’t about chasing youth. It’s about reconnecting with yourself, one gentle massage at a time.

And I think every woman deserves a little more of that. 💛

Have you ever tried facial massage as part of your self-care routine? I’d love to hear how it makes you feel in the comments. 👇
