📢 The Aligners VS Braces webinar is now available on the Library for EOS members!

Both are integral to contemporary orthodontics. Both are supported by evidence. Yet fundamental questions remain:

❓Do aligners and fixed appliances truly differ in their biomechanics and biological effects?
❓Are their clinical outcomes comparable across all treatment dimensions?
❓And when we choose one system over the other, are we guided by evidence, experience — or assumption?

These questions are explored in this 90-minute webinar debate, designed to bring together theoretical insight, clinical reality, and critical appraisal of the evidence, with the aim of moving towards practical, best-practice guidance grounded in science and real-world orthodontic care.

A panel of internationally recognised experts address the topic from four complementary viewpoints.

The session qualifies for 2 Continuing Professional Development credits (CPD).

💻You can now watch the new Clinical Case webinar with Dr Caroline Vecchione on the EOS Library

In this European Board of Orthodontics case presentation, Dr Caroline Vecchione (France) presents the treatment of a 15-year-old patient with Class II Division 1 malocclusion, bimaxillary protrusion, mandibular retrusion and a unilateral crossbite. The case explores treatment planning without surgery, premolar extractions, segmented mechanics, T-loop space closure, and retention, highlighting the value of careful case analysis and clinical reflection.

Learning outcomes:
✏️Understand the diagnostic and treatment planning considerations for a Class II Division 1 case with bimaxillary protrusion, mandibular retrusion and transverse discrepancy.
✏️Explore the use of premolar extractions, segmented mechanics, maxillary expansion and T-loop space closure in non-surgical orthodontic camouflage treatment.
✏️Evaluate the clinical decision-making involved when orthognathic surgery is declined and treatment objectives must be adapted accordingly.
✏️Appreciate the role of retention planning and long-term stability assessment in supporting reflective clinical practice.
