Can we stop talking about women’s bodies? And stop glorifying ā€œskinnyā€ whilst we are at it?

Can we stop rewarding dramatic weight loss with compliments before we know what it cost someone to get there?

Social media is full of videos analysing celebrities’ bodies, deciding who looks ā€œtoo thinā€ and picking apart every photo that’s posted. I don’t think that’s helping anyone.

These women are human beings, some may be living with eating disorders. Others are under enormous pressure from industries that have rewarded thinness for decades, and plastering their bodies across the internet and dissecting how they look isn’t going to help them is it? It’s just another way for us to try and control what women do and what they should look like.

The problem isn’t one celebrity, more a culture that tells us thinner is always better. That smaller is always the goal.

As the son of someone who battled anorexia for over 40 years, I’ve seen where that belief can lead. I’ve seen the osteoporosis, the muscle loss, the fear of food, the obsession, and the years stolen by an illness that society often praises because it looks like ā€œdiscipline.ā€

Thankfully, life now looks much more promising and exciting, and recovery can be made.

Weight loss isn’t the enemy. For many people, losing weight through healthier habits can improve health and quality of life. But when skinny becomes more important than being healthy, we’ve lost the plot.

Let’s stop glorifying skinny, commenting on women’s bodies, and praising weight loss without knowing the story behind it.

And, instead start celebrating strength, health, freedom and a healthy relationship with food instead.

Can we stop comparing wellness trends to the simple and cost effective basics please? An expensive red light sauna is not the same as a workout šŸ™ƒ

The ā€œDirty Dozenā€ šŸ˜‚ Not scientific or official…. Just a fear-based marketing tool from an organic lobbying group.

These people repeat the same scare tactics to sound credible, because fear gets clicks and makes you spend more money.

You don’t need to buy organic. The difference in health benefits? Tiny.
The pesticide risk? Already way below harmful levels. And yes… organic farms still use pesticides too.

Save your cash. Just eat the fruit and veg.

If you’re fed up of misinformation…

Two amazing athletes recently criticised for their appearance.

The truth is anyone and everyone is criticised because there are idiots out there.

But it says far more about them than you.

Keep showing up and keep building a better version of you šŸ‘ŠšŸ»

I talk through body confidence and diet culture in depth in my book: You Can Eat That šŸ“š

Don’t get scammed into buying electrolytes.

When the average person in the uk consumes 8g of salt and 3.2g of sodium…

And the maximum recommendations are 6g of salt and roughly 2g of sodium…

You really don’t need the extra.

Prolonged sweating from endurance exercise, medical conditions and illness maybe.

But not because it’s a bit warm. Drink a glass of water.

I cover all sorts of misinformation in my book You Can Eat That.

If a snack wouldn’t keep your 10 year old child going all afternoon… it’s not going to sustain a fully grown adult either.

Here’s an idea… have a proper snack. I don’t know… maybe one that actually keeps you going for the 6-7 hours between lunch and dinner.

The most overwhelming couple of weeks… that ended with the best day šŸ’™

Spending it with my clients, academy members and close friends and family.

Community is everything. I’ll stand by that forever. It’s friendship, support and knowing you’re not alone.

More importantly, knowing others have your back when you need it.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported the book, everyone who came to the live day and launch.

Genuinely love this community. I’m not very good at accepting praise or celebrating anything. But I’ll remember this day forever.

Thanks to all my friends who came to speak .nutrition

And thanks to who supported the day by sending a load of bars for us to all enjoy. Appreciate your support from day one as well. Couldn’t recommend them anymore as a company.

You can order the book by messaging me the word ā€œYCETā€ or join the academy via my bio.
