Last year's Aurora Retreat brought together a small group of people who, in various ways, had been carrying a lot β€” health challenges, professional pressure, the particular exhaustion of managing something invisible inside a demanding life. 🌿

And for one week, they stepped out of it entirely.

Mornings that began with movement, Pilates, breathwork, and meditation before the day had made any demands. Communal breakfasts around a long table. Afternoons that were entirely free β€” to explore, to rest, to sit by the pool and do absolutely nothing. Evenings with coaching circles and dinners that went on longer than planned because nobody wanted to leave the table. Sound baths that sent everyone straight to deep sleep.

For stressed professionals managing dizziness, jaw pain, migraines, or chronic pain β€” the nervous system is almost always the maintaining factor that a session alone never fully reaches. Not because the treatment is wrong. Because the environment never changes long enough for the regulation to hold.

A week like this changes the environment entirely. The nervous system gets the signal β€” sustained, repeated, unhurried β€” that it is safe to settle. And things land differently when there is actually space for them to.

One of last year's guests put it better than we could:
"The Aurora Retreat was one of those experiences that quietly shifts something in you. I came back feeling lighter and more energised β€” not just physically, but in the way I'm thinking about what's ahead. That's rare, and it doesn't happen by accident. More people need this." β€” Christian

We want to create that again this autumn.

We are exploring dates and would love to know if this is something you would consider. The survey takes 2 minutes β€” and your answers directly shape whether we go ahead and what it looks like.

Not the kind of rest where you are technically not working but still checking your phone.

Not the kind where you sleep in on Saturday and spend Sunday mentally preparing for the week.

The kind where the nervous system β€” the one that has been managing your dizziness, your jaw tension, your headaches, your chronic pain, your professional life, and the invisible load underneath all of it β€” finally gets the signal that it is safe to let go.

For stressed professionals living with vestibular conditions, jaw pain, migraines, or chronic pain, the nervous system is almost always the maintaining factor that treatment alone never fully reaches. Not because the treatment is wrong. Because the environment never changes enough for the regulation to hold.

Sessions help. The right programme changes things. But there is something different that happens when you take the nervous system out of the environment driving it β€” and give it a week of mornings with breathwork, evenings with coaching, and days that are entirely, unhurriedly yours.

Last year a small group of people found exactly that β€” people who, in various ways, had been carrying a lot. Health challenges, professional pressure, the particular exhaustion of managing something invisible inside a demanding life.

That is what we are thinking about for this autumn. And we want to know if it resonates with you. More this week β€” but if you're curious already, the link is in our bio. πŸ’™

The muscle most people with jaw pain have never had released. 🦷

In this short video Alessio demonstrates intra-oral release β€” specifically targeting the pterygoid muscle, one of the primary drivers of jaw tension, clicking, and disc displacement that sits deep inside the jaw and is almost never reached by standard physiotherapy or dental treatment.

The pterygoid cannot be fully released from the outside. It requires specific intra-oral technique β€” working directly inside the mouth to release the tension that has been loading the jaw joint from the inside.

This is the muscle that braces first under stress. That pulls the disc forward during sustained clenching. That contributes directly to the clicking, the locking, the headaches behind the eyes, and the jaw that never fully releases even after a night guard, exercises, or external massage.

Most jaw pain patients have had their masseter released. Their temporalis stretched. Their neck mobilised. And the pterygoid β€” sitting deep, inaccessible from the outside, and almost always involved β€” has never been touched.
One session of targeted intra-oral release often produces more immediate jaw relief than months of external treatment. Not because it is more aggressive β€” because it is finally reaching the right place.

This is one technique from a full specialist TMJ assessment at Hito. On its own it creates significant relief. What produces lasting results is treating the jaw, the neck, and the nervous system simultaneously β€” from session one.

If you have jaw pain AND ringing in your ears β€” there is a very good chance they are the same problem. 🦷

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sits directly in front of the ear canal. The muscles and nerves surrounding the jaw share direct connections with the structures of the middle ear. When the jaw is chronically tense β€” as it is for most working professionals managing sustained professional pressure β€” those connections carry the tension directly into the ear.

The Tinnitus. The ear fullness. The blocked feeling that comes and goes with your stress levels. The hearing test came back completely normal.

Normal hearing tests do not rule out a jaw contribution to ear symptoms. They rule out a problem with the ear itself. The jaw β€” which is almost never assessed in an ENT consultation β€” is a different question entirely.

Across our completed TMJ cohort: 100% of patients with tinnitus and ear fullness reported reduction during the programme. Not because the ear was treated. Because the jaw, the neck, and the nervous system were treated together β€” simultaneously, from week one.

Why does jaw pain keep coming back β€” even after everything you've tried?
The night guard. The Botox. The physio sessions that helped for a while. And still the same ceiling. Still the same return.

This blog explains the full story β€” from how bruxism and clenching lead to disc displacement over time, to why stress is where the whole pattern begins, to why treating the jaw without treating the nervous system will always reach the same limit.

If your jaw has been clicking, locking, or aching for longer than it should β€” this is the explanation most people never receive. πŸ‘‡

Jaw pain almost never starts the day it becomes unbearable. Here is how bruxism leads to disc displacement, why night guards and Botox only buy time, and what treating the root cause properly looks like.

You do not let the pressure show.

You deliver under the deadline. You manage the difficult conversations. You absorb the stress that other people externalise and keep moving. You have always been the one who copes β€” quietly, competently, without making it anyone else's problem.

And your body has been doing the same thing.

The jaw that braces through every demanding hour without you telling it to. The neck that holds long after the meeting ends. The teeth that clench through the night even when you thought you had finally switched off. The headache that arrives on Tuesday when the pressure of the week has fully landed.

Your jaw has been holding what you don't express. The frustration you swallowed in that meeting. The anxiety you managed through rather than processed. The sustained pressure of a professional life that asks a lot β€” and a body that has been saying yes to all of it, without being given the tools to release any of it.

This is not a weakness. This is what happens when a nervous system learns to hold β€” and is never taught to let go.

Dizzy. Anxious. More dizzy. More anxious. The cycle is self-perpetuating. But it can be interrupted. 🧠

In this video Julie talks about one of the most exhausting patterns in vestibular conditions β€” the loop where dizziness triggers anxiety, anxiety activates the nervous system, the nervous system amplifies the dizziness, and the dizziness feeds the anxiety again.

Most people living with vestibular problems know this loop well. What most people are never told is that there is a specific point in the cycle where it can be interrupted β€” before the anxiety escalates and the dizziness worsens.

That point is the breath.

You cannot think your way out of this cycle. The nervous system does not respond to reasoning or reassurance when it is in activation. But you can breathe your way through it. You can ground your way through it. You can move your way through it.

The humming breath Julie will demonstrate is one of the most effective tools for interrupting the vestibular anxiety loop in real time β€” activating the vagus nerve, shifting the nervous system from high alert toward regulation, and giving the balance system the signal it needs to settle.

It does not require silence. It does not require stillness. It requires one deliberate breath β€” and the knowledge that the cycle, however relentless it feels, is not permanent.

Screens making your dizziness worse? Try this. 🧠

This is Gaze Stability β€” Moving Target, demonstrated by Alessio using a pen. Hold the pen at arm's length, move it slowly side to side, and keep your eyes locked on the tip while your head stays still.

Simple. No equipment. Something you can do at your desk right now.

Go slowly. If you feel dizziness or fatigue during the movement β€” that is information. It means the visual and vestibular systems need more work to start communicating properly again. That is exactly what this exercise begins to address.

This is one exercise from a full specialist vestibular programme at Hito. On its own it creates progress. What produces lasting results is treating the full picture β€” body, nervous system, and mindset β€” simultaneously from session one.

Your dizziness didn't start the day the room started spinning. Something was building long before that. 🧠

The neck that never fully loosened. The light-headedness on stressful days that you explained away. The brain fog that arrived during demanding weeks. The sensitivity to busy environments that felt manageable β€” until it wasn't.
These were not random symptoms. They were a vestibular system, a nervous system, and a cervical spine under increasing pressure β€” telling you that the threshold was getting closer.

Three things drive almost every vestibular problem β€” and almost none of them are addressed in standard vestibular care:

The upper cervical spine β€” present in the majority of vestibular patients Alessio assesses, almost never assessed alongside the inner ear. Restriction here feeds vestibular signals directly and produces measurable symptom contribution that exercises alone cannot address.

The nervous system β€” chronic sympathetic activation keeps the balance system on sustained high alert. This is why dizziness tracks the working week and eases on holiday. The nervous system is the amplifier β€” and it is almost always the primary maintaining factor.

The mindset β€” anticipatory anxiety about the next episode feeds the very nervous system activation that makes the next episode more likely. The two sustain each other in a cycle that most treatment never reaches.

When all three are treated simultaneously β€” brain fog resolves by week 3–4. Dizziness significantly reduced by week 8–10. Balance fully restored by week 4–6.
That is what treating the root cause looks like.

Not every healing journey is a straight line. 🧠

Sometimes β€” as the body begins to release patterns it has been holding for years β€” things feel harder before they feel better. The jaw that suddenly aches more. The neck that tightens. The emotions that surface without warning. The exhaustion that arrives before the relief.

This is what we call a healing crisis. And it is one of the most misunderstood moments in the recovery process.

In this video Alessio shares experiences of patients who went through exactly this β€” the moment mid-programme where the body was doing the work, but it did not feel that way from the inside. Where the question becomes: is this getting worse, or is this the nervous system finally letting go of something it has been holding for a very long time?

The answer, almost always, is the second one.

This is why grounding meditation is also built into the Hito Programme from week one β€” not as a relaxation tool, not as an add-on, but as the clinical bridge between the body releasing and the nervous system feeling safe enough to stay there. When the system is supported through the difficult moments rather than left to manage them alone, the healing crisis becomes the turning point β€” not the setback.

If you are in the middle of a difficult stretch right now and wondering whether you are going backwards β€” you are probably not. You are probably right where the work needs to happen.
