For our Sickle Cell community, water is more than just a drink, it’s one of our strongest tools for staying out of crisis.

When we stay hydrated, we help our red blood cells move more freely, reducing the risk of sickling and those sudden “pain pings.”

What started as a big idea with very little time turned into something truly special 🧡
This weekend, phase one of Crescent Kids’ Christmas initiative was completed — with gifts packed and prepared for two paediatric wards at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
So much gratitude for Team Flourish, whose energy and belief carried this forward, and to Sarah Skelton and Rebecca Wynne for leading an incredible fundraising push that turned generosity into real impact.
Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, reposted and encouraged us — every action mattered.
Huge appreciation to Jonathan Fitchew for taking the time to listen and respond with such generosity, and to , especially Tuesday Ibbotson MCIPD and Sarah Green, for creating space to raise awareness around invisible disabilities, including sickle cell. Every penny from that session went straight back into this cause.
Behind the scenes, volunteers showed up in the most beautiful ways — packing boxes, writing gift tags, and bringing the Crescent Kids spirit to life. And the children who wrote personalised “Get Well Soon” cards? Pure magic ✨
This is what happens when community comes together.

As part of highlighting different aspects of Warriors and their lives this month, we interviewed the sibling/caregiver of a Warrior.

For many warriors, their families are their backbone. Solid and holding them up in the light of goodness.

Neme’s story is one of hope, love and care. She is an amazing person and she loves her sibling dearly.
This story is to recognize the efforts, support, love and sacrifice of loved ones and care givers whose love remains consistent. The spotlight on them is to appreciate them.

We hope that it inspires you, educates you and most of all builds compassion and understanding.

This post is to inform and enlighten so that together we can create a better society where Warriors feel seen, cared for, understood and valued.

The month of September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month✨

This month, Eli Health joins the global movement to raise awareness, support warriors, and push for better care and research.

The core purpose of this month is to:
✅Educate and inform everyone. By debunking myths and misconceptions surrounding sickle cell and its impact on individuals and families, we will create a more informed society that is kinder and compassionate towards warriors and their families.

✅End the harmful stereotypes that lead to discrimination and emotional distress for sickle cell warriors. This is a big deal in many parts of the world and the purpose of awareness is to let people know that warriors are strong, purposeful and powerful individuals.

✅ Also, to advocate for better care and research. The advocacy is to solicit for more funding for research, accessible and affordable treatments.

Crescent Kids paid visits to hospitals in Abuja Nigeria last year to find out the medical costs associated with sickle cell care and treatments.
Their discovery is proof that there has to be more affordable treatments, plans and insurance coverage for warriors and their families.

Throughout the month of September, we hope that you remember to share facts and information that can help achieve these outlined goals.
Together, we can help create a world where warriors feel loved, supported, seen and understood.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria has one of the highest prevalence of sickle cell disease in the world, with an estimated 150,000 children born with Sickle Cell each year.

An estimated 50-90% of these children die before the age of 5. Many of these children face significant challenges, including chronic pain, organ damage, and an increased risk of infections, which can lead to early death if left untreated.

There are several issues that families in Nigeria face when trying to access healthcare for their children.
