A little behind the scenes from this week.

Last week was our committee dinner. Today was spent with the IBS Guidelines Core Group, working through the evidence behind the first UK dietetic guidance for children with IBS and functional abdominal pain.

The work isn’t glamorous. It’s hours of reviewing research, discussing evidence, challenging each other’s thinking, and trying to answer one simple question:

What advice is most likely to help children and families?

What keeps us motivated is knowing how many families are currently stuck in the cycle of:

“We’ve done the tests.”

“Everything came back normal.”

“But my child still isn’t okay.”

The goal is to help bring clearer answers and practical guidance to an area that can feel incredibly confusing for both families and healthcare professionals.

We meet virtually as travelling into London isn’t always possible, which is a lovely reminder of how many people across the country are contributing to this work (it’s a bigger group)!

Grateful for this group and work.

Dietitians Week may be nearly over, but I couldn’t let it pass without celebrating paediatric dietetics.

A little behind the scenes from last night’s committee dinner and today’s meeting.

I’ve finished the week alongside an incredible group of paediatric dietitians who are leading services, developing guidelines, contributing to research, supporting families, and helping shape the future of children’s healthcare.

Not everyone could make it into London, so some colleagues joined us virtually, which felt like a fitting reminder of how connected our profession is across the UK.

What people don’t often see are the countless hours spent collaborating, reviewing evidence, mentoring colleagues, responding to new guidance, and working together to improve care for children and young people.

I’m particularly grateful to be surrounded by colleagues who are generous with their expertise, passionate about improving care, and committed to moving our profession forward.

I’m proud to be part of this community and excited about the projects we’re working on together.

Happy Dietitians Week to all the paediatric dietitians making a difference behind the scenes every day.

Every party invitation has become a calculation. If you know, you know.

Can he go? Will there be a toilet? What will they feed him? Should you stay, even though he’s old enough that staying embarrasses him?

One mum told me her son came to find her at a party, white-faced, needing the toilet right now. What she wanted wasn’t a perfect gut. It was a child who could go to a party without it becoming a crisis.

For most families I work with, that becomes possible. Discovery call link in bio

Every Test came back normal. But your child is still not okay.

If you’ve had the blood, the stool samples, maybe even a Referral to a paediatrician or gastroenterologist, and being told everything looks fine while your child is still in pain, you are not imagining it.

Normal Test don’t mean nothing is wrong. Most childhood gut problems are functional ;disorders of gut-brain interaction) and don’t show up on standard testing.

Paragraph that doesn’t make them less real, it makes them a different kind of problem.

That gap, normal results and daily symptoms, is exactly where I start.

To get started book a discovery call. ☎️

Here’s a punchier, more emotional version:

——

**You’ve tried the fibre. The water. Cut the dairy.**

**And your child is still constipated.**

It’s not because you’re doing it wrong.
It’s because no one’s told you what’s *actually* keeping things stuck.

Tonight’s carousel breaks down the **3 hidden reasons** constipation won’t budge — and what to do instead.

These are the exact steps I use inside the Happy Belly Club to help kids:
✔ Get off laxatives
✔ Stop the tummy pain
✔ Feel confident at school again

**If this is you:**

💬 **DM me the word CONSTIPATION** — I’ll send you the best next step for your child

📌 **Save this** so you can revisit it when you need it

📤 **Tag a parent** who’s been dealing with this for too long

You don’t have to figure this out alone.
The right plan changes everything. 💛
