We are delighted to share that Wellnesstribe_hub has officially evolved into Tinokunda Wellness Village CIC — a name that honours our roots, our purpose, and the community we serve.
Tinokunda means “We have overcome” — a powerful declaration of resilience, healing, and collective strength. This new name reflects the heart of our work: building a village where Black women and girls are supported, uplifted, and empowered to thrive mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially.
Our transformation into Tinokunda Wellness Village CIC is more than a name change. It is a commitment to creating a true community, a healing ecosystem where every Black woman and girl receives something meaningful — support, skills, connection, advocacy, and a sense of belonging.

This week is National Apprenticeship week and just to highlight it can be thrilling being in a course that gets to your future goals. However it can also be demanding finding the right balance to study, work and have a personal life.

A few tips and reminders of how to look after your mental health:

Key Mental Health Themes to Consider:

1. Balancing Work and Study:
It’s important for apprentices to set realistic goals, manage their time wisely, and have open conversations with their mentors about any difficulties they face regarding their workload.

2. Building Resilience:
Remind apprentices that making mistakes is a natural part of learning. By developing resilience, they can recover from setbacks and maintain their confidence.

3. Creating Supportive Environments:
Employers and training providers can greatly enhance mental wellbeing by encouraging open dialogue, offering mentorship, and ensuring mental health check-ins become the norm.

4. Prioritising Self-Care and Rest:
Encourage apprentices to focus on getting enough rest, eating well, and staying active. Even short breaks can help reduce stress and improve concentration.

5. Fostering Community and Connection:
Establishing peer support networks can make a significant difference. Sharing experiences helps apprentices feel understood, supported, and less isolated.

World Cancer Day is a powerful reminder of resilience and hope. As a survivor, my journey embodies strength and the possibility of healing. Each year brings advancements in research, treatment, and support, shining a light on the potential for a brighter future. Each story inspires others to believe in their own battles and fosters a community united in the fight against cancer. Together, we can continue to raise awareness, support one another, and work towards a world where cancer is no longer a threat. Each experience is a beacon of hope for countless others.
