Quiet Confidence How to liberate and lead with your quiet roar

Are you quite done complaining? I'm probably not, if I'm honest. It's a bad habit I've gotten into as a result of having an extended period of frustration and negativity and downward spiralling as a result of a back injury, fluctuating work patterns, social injustice (just gonna add that whole wave of political unrest to the list to top it off) that has been bothering me a lot lately and blocking my ability to be my usual optimistic self.

But. And it's a big but! It really is time to wake up from it all. Because I can go through the rest of my life continuing to spiral until I'm a woman alone in a dark space with nothing but cats and bitterness to keep me warm, or I can acknowledge the part of this I'm doing to myself and address it. As a Behavioural Coach, it'd be very poor form if I chose the cats and bitterness. So, here's my take on that in this video: 1) singular focus of intention and clarity 2) correlating behaviour, language and actions to land it. And yes, in this video I'm still spelling "focussed" with 2 S's. Unnecessarily British til the bitter end 😁

Hours of pain and chaos forced me to discover these truths:

This pain does not define me;
This feeling is not permanent;
And this experience will pass.

This, oddly, was my breaking point. Because I've associated so much of my identity's strength with my ability to
push through.

And that brought me to a difficult realisation:

I can't push through something
that I'm not in control of. It's difficult because I'm someone who has related the capacity to suffer with the capacity to overcome suffering. But that's not correct. Nor helpful. Nor is the suffering deserved in the first place.

So I wanted to offer you two guiding questions:

What might you need to hear today to release yourself from the burden that you've been silently carrying
for so long?

And who do you need to hear it from?

If you've always been known as someone who is loyal, are you often taken advantage of and expected to persevere, even beyond reason and credit?

If you've always been dependable, do all the crappy tasks get left with you because people know you'll get the job done?

If you're responsible, are you always expected to carry the burden of those who are not?

What are the core traits that people know you by? And how is that often misused?

You're right, it IS difficult to match polka dots with leopard print, but someone's got to do it.

There was a time that coffee was not in my life at all. Now I shape elements of my day around where it fits in according to my values. Somewhere in my coffee experience I learned how it made me feel, what it stood for when the quality, origin and method was right, and how much I thrived on enjoying food and drink done well.

And somewhere in there that helped me understand what I love about many experiences in life (quality, depth, consideration, history, connection, culture, health, expansion, abundance), and what doesn't work for me (being pressured, pretension, distractions). So I take the time, and thought, to love it and enjoy it well.

And that's just from coffee. What do your everyday choices say about you?

Loving that there's so much complexity in this simple picture. Walked past this beautiful greenery as I wandered through a small park near my home, and just felt so alive and energized by seeing such vibrancy in one space.

But really all this is, is just a little bit of yellow, and a little bit of green, but if you look closely what you see is lots of different greens, lots of different yellows, vertical and horizontal lines, layering. There's so much going on in the background, the foreground, and what your eyes pick up on when looking at different parts of this picture, and this is what it's like when we look at - or receive - people and energy in our sphere; we get a sense of the whole picture on first glance, and then if we take just a moment we see so much more complexity and wonder beyond the surface of what we see.

It's these layers of complexity that help us determine within milliseconds, subconsciously, whether we should trust, collaborate, avoid, embrace or simply be aware of the person in front of us.

You may have been taught in your younger years to aim for the baseline. No-one would have called it that, they would have told you it was "skill" or "knowledge" or "experience", in short this is competence - but competence really should be seen as your baseline.

It's what you do with it, and how you present it from that point onwards, that is going to empower you to stand out and be seen.

Habitual patterns happen around us, and for us, all through the day. When opportunities don't come our way, or the results of circumstances aren't what we had hoped for, it's easier to attribute that to chance, than accept the part we might have played in the outcome.

Being overlooked is rarely random, it's a result of the habitual patterns that are occurring, whether you see them or not. If you want to know more about where YOUR habitual patterns might be steering you, apply for the Recalibration Diagnostic at
