Ever wondered why you are craving sugar?

Oh well...here I am too and i know for a reason that my currently interrupted sleep (yes I've had a second baby last September 😘) is no stranger to this increased cravings for carbs and anything sweet.

Give me a ❤️ if this is you.

Gut work is fundamental when you work with food, nutrients and sometimes supplements. As indeed you need to absorb all this for it to have any effect. And beyond absorption, we also need to make sure that food does not trigger any symptoms either.

This has everything to do with the pleasure of eating, feeling good in your trousers (bloating i see you), being able to go to your pilates class without fearing another deadly gas eruption, leaving without abdominal pain, not being able to plan meetings or social activities as you never know when you will need the toilets.

Our gut truly affects our lives. Our brains too.
Our mental health.

5 Ways to stay hydrated & fresh this weekend!

1. prepare infused water with frozen berries, mint, lemon or rosemary 🍋🫐

2. could create beautiful ice cubes with bits of fruits, herbs or even edible flowers to keep your drinks fresh for longer 🧊

3. ice lollies: we tend to prep them with high quality fruit juice a little diluted with water, this way you know exactly what's in them and it's not too sweet 🍉 Timothée 's favourite so far is with watermelon juice!

4.herbal iced tea - any herbal tea can work 🧋

5. And because 20% of our hydration comes from our food:
•🍓🍈🍉making fruit kebabs with watermelons, melons, strawberries (they are amongst the fruits higher in water content)
•🥒🍅🥦🫑 cucumber sticks always but also to tomatoes, peppers, broccolis, courgettes or celery are also perfect hydrating swaps for the chips

And more tips to prevent dehydration:

💛Check the colour of your urine should stay a pale yellow!

💧Drink water before you feel thirsty

🍶Avoid alcohol or sweet containing beverages, they can also contribute to dehydration.

🚿👒And finally, try and cool down, as temperature regulation is also key to staying hydrated. So light loose cotton clothes everyone, hats and delightful water sprays!! Love the one. Or if you like me an ice pack in a pillowcase works just fine too! Or a nice cool shower!

What a wonderful vision of our bodies are gardens and our decisions as gardeners.

I can really relate to an ecological vision of health, preserving diversity of what we eat and what lives inside us: our various microbiomes (skin, lungs, gut, oral...).

Tending to our inner gardens could very well be the focus of this summer. And Nutritional Therapy is an amazing tool to do just that.

Are supplements good for you? Is taking supplements worth it?

Are you wondering what supplement should I take? Which supplement is best for my hair? For my skin or my weight gain? Do you regularly buy some supplements off the counter?

Before I studied 3 years to become a nutritional therapist, I used to love going to health food shops, look at the supplements range, buy a couple of well marketed beautiful bottles that would hold the promises of helping with acne, or irregular periods, bloating or such and such symptoms.

I get it: the thrill of feeling you are finally doing something to address what's bothering you. You feel empowered to act. It's within hands reach and not too costly, not too difficult to do.

But how helpful is the supplement you have picked ?

Hello, I'm Clotilde !

There are a new faces who joined those last few weeks, so it's about time I reintroduced myself.

🍒 I am a registered Nutritionist and Nutritional Therapist and I help women optimise their hormonal health and their gut health. I do so by seeing clients 121 online in either English of French. I also co-lead online programs (in French currently) about the menstrual cycle.

💙Why am I interested in PCOS? Because I have it too! so I know exactly how it feels to have to battle to be taken seriously, to acknoweldge that this is not just about cosmetic concerns, that this syndrome is complex, multi-factorial, hugely impactful on long-term health and that we need to feel supported to navigate the best route for us individually!

🍫I have a sweet tooth, love almost anything with dark chocolate and almond. Yes it is all about 80% - 20% - nutrition is not about deprivation! More like a balancing act!

👶 I help couples to optimise their nutrition to start the family of their dreams. I know this road is not always easy to travel, but I passionately believe that it's the perfect opportunity to pause and envision a new way to care about our bodies, our minds and our hearts. A meal is also a way to come together, to care about each other, to say I love you, I see you, we will get through this! Together we plan realistic changes that helps you put all the chances on your side as you try to conceive .

🌿I am a sucker for gardens, flowers, nature. This is how I recharge my batteries, physically and emotionally. I just recently spent a few days in Kent, and if you have not been to I would highly recommend it. I endeavour to grow edible things in a couple of lockdown-born raised beds in our garden... it is a learning curve that I embrace and may share with you from time to time.

🤓I love learning and back in September I started a Masters degree in Personalised Nutrition . So if you see a bit less of me here, it's because I am currently doing intense reading of scientific articles about PCOS to refine the topic of my dissertation! But I'll try and

Artichokes are in season! Double-tap if you like them too!

They are rich in folate which is fantastic when you are looking to conceive or early in your pregnancy.

They are also rich in vitamin C, a key player for our immune system and an antioxidant amongst many other functions.

They contain inulin, a type of fiber which acts as a prebiotic. Put simply, prebiotics are feeding our good gut bacteria, another key aspect of digestive and immune health I often work on with my clients.

How do you like artichokes?

Personally i go for the simple boiling them for 35-40 min in water with lemon.
And then go leaf by leaf, dipping them in vinaigrette.
It's really quite an entertaining way to eat vegetables, for little ones and adults alike!

Surprisingly when TTC looking after our vaginal health may not be what comes first to mind and yet, the microbiome down there is of crucial importance on regulating the pH, and fending off pathogens and infections.
