2 days ago I had a knee surgery. My beloved sport - skiing - clearly is a risky sport. Over a month ago I suffered a fall when skiing off piste and have completely torn my ACL as well as broke my medial meniscus in 2 places. Now I am just able to walk a few metres with crutches and am in a considerable pain. What will be crucial now is a proper rehab- meaning proper physical activity to get me walking again, and hopefully skiing and playing tennis also. I am writing this post to illustrate how important exercising is- whatever the circumstance and whatever your limits are. For me exercising of the injured leg just means flexing the foot up and down and tensing the quad muscle - rather unimpressive given that back in March I was a gate racing skier! The point is to do what you can- keep active as much as your body allows you. Some sports can be risky, but physical activity is always better than no physical activity! Keep your fingers crossed for my fast recovery and I will keep you updated on the progress!!
