We’re working with the medical device and healthcare company Abbott to better understand the experiences of adult patients who receive - or who have previously received - home enteral feeding (HEF) and have used homecare services.

Through this project, we want to hear directly from patients and their carers about what’s working well, what could be improved, and what matters most to them. As part of this, we’ll be running two virtual focus groups where participants can share their experiences and ideas.

Too many patients move through a health and care system that is fragmented, complex and hard to navigate. Services are designed around organisations, not people. But what would it look like if we put the patient at the centre - not as a policy ambition, but as a lived reality?

At this event we'll bring together a GP with national experience in neighbourhood health, a patient, the National Academy for Social Prescribing, and a Consultant Surgeon to explore what genuine person-centred care looks and feels like - and what needs to change to make it the norm, rather than the exception.

Our Patient Experience Survey 2026 found many patients value the compassion and professionalism of NHS staff:
57% described healthcare professionals as compassionate.
60% said they were competent.

But only 52% felt listened to and taken seriously in appointments. Patients deserve both expertise and to be heard.
