About BAMRR:

Membership is organised on the basis of each MRI unit registering with the Association, every site nominating a person to receive correspondence. Membership is however welcomed from representatives of companies and organisations with an interest in magnetic resonance as well as from individuals not currently employed in an MR unit, or those who would prefer to

have their own private subscription. The aims of the Association are currently achieved by the holding of a one day annual conference, the venue at a centrally located UK city. Two additional two day courses are also held annually, for differing levels of theoretical and practical MRI education (all with with reduced registration fees for members). The Association has a newsletter both for general information and for technical papers. The main information for the Association is through the owned website. The Policy Board has now assisted in the organisation of several validated courses targeted at radiographers working in MR, leading to the award of certificates, diplomas and masters degrees. Between them, these courses are structured to allow at distance learning similar to the Open University format or day release schemes. All courses give students the opportunity to work towards the award of an MSc in magnetic resonance. The Association also offers an annual Educational grant for assistance with further MRI based masters degrees, subject to conditions and approval by the Association policy board. The Association is also works with the College of Radiographers' to formulate validation mechanisms for other MR related courses. The Association is active in forging links with other organisations, both national and international and is currently arranges a number of joint meetings and study days. We are extremely proud to also add Tree Herbert is a member of the BAMRR board representing Radiotherapy in MRI. Great to see this 🙌🧲

As part of our staff stories series, celebrating the wonderful people behind The Royal Marsden, Trina Herbert, Therapeutic Radiographer, shares her story:

"When I graduated from Portsmouth University in 1998, I was excited to join The Royal Marsden as a newly qualified radiographer. During my training, I had learned about pioneering techniques developed here, so starting my first job at The Marsden felt incredibly special.

"Initially, I planned to stay for two years before travelling and working around the world. Nearly 28 years later, I am still here. Over that time, both my role and the field of radiotherapy have evolved enormously. Advances in imaging and treatment technology allow us to deliver Radiotherapy with extraordinary precision.

"It has been a privilege to witness that progress and to be part of a team that continues to innovate. My work has taken me around the world, representing The Royal Marsden at conferences and educational events. Not bad for a first job!"
