Huge congratulations to Arsenal on winning the League this week!
Arsenal Football Club operates extensive mental health initiatives through Arsenal in the Community, providing vital outreach, therapy, and drop-in services in partnership with local NHS trusts and health charities. Today we celebrate a football club that gives back.
As an Islington charity, this is a big deal for our community after 22 years of waiting.
Jay Serrao, lifelong Gunners fan and our Finance Manager, shares his joy and reflections:
“I’ve been watching Arsenal F.C. since the late 1980s, when my Grandad Lewis first introduced me to the club. I’ve seen the ups and downs, the near misses and the glory years, but this moment means a huge amount to our community. After 22 years, this title feels bigger than football. Arsenal has always been about identity, resilience and togetherness.
I’ve toured the world with my band over the years, and one thing that always stayed with me was how an Arsenal shirt could attract fellow Gooners wherever I went. Whether it was Europe, America, the Arabian Gulf , India or somewhere completely unexpected, there was always someone ready to talk football, share a memory or simply shout “COYG”.
Last night, watching generations of supporters celebrate side by side across North London and around the world has been genuinely emotional. Our community of Gooners comes from every corner of this beautiful world we live in. Texas, New York, Chicago, Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Colombia, India, Kuwait and beyond. This is for them.
Through my work with The Stuart Low Trust, which continues to work alongside Arsenal F.C. on su***de prevention and mental health awareness, I know how important moments like this can be in bringing people together and lifting spirits.
But Gunners, it’s now time to celebrate. COME ON YOU GUNNERS”
From North London to Gooners around the world — this is a moment of celebration, identity, resilience and togetherness.
