Doctor: “IT’S PROBABLY STRESS.”
Possibly.
Because stress absolutely can affect digestion.
Your brain and gut are constantly communicating, which is why a stressful day can sometimes show up in your stomach before you’ve even realised how stressed you are.
But here’s what I wish more women knew:
Midlife digestion isn’t a one-variable equation.
Hormonal changes may be part of the picture.
So can:
→ constipation
→ sleep
→ stress
→ how quickly you eat
→ what you eat
→ fibre intake
→ hydration
→ movement
Which is why I’m wary of both extremes:
❌ “It’s just stress.”
AND
❌ “It’s definitely your hormones.”
Your body deserves more curiosity than that.
And if you’ve developed new or persistent bloating or digestive symptoms, don’t automatically write them off as perimenopause either. Get them checked.
For everything else?
Start supporting the basics before trying another extreme protocol.
