Thank you to Becky , one of our amazing volunteers who runs our Women's Craft group.

Becky came up with the idea of using some crochet and knitted pieces she had to use as tree wraps to brighten up the terrace - which they certainly have!

Now all we need is the sunshine back! 🌞

Our latest blog is now live, exploring the rise in domestic abuse incidents during major football tournaments.

Football itself is not to blame. Abuse is about power and control, and perpetrators alone are responsible for their actions. However, heightened emotions, increased alcohol consumption, and intense social pressures surrounding events like the World Cup can escalate abusive behaviour.

For survivors already living in unsafe environments, these tournaments can also increase feelings of anxiety, isolation, and danger.

When England lose a World Cup match, reports of domestic abuse rise by 38%.
What’s even more shocking? Incidents also increase by 26% when they win or draw.

Football doesn’t cause abuse. Abusers do.
But sadly major tournaments can escalate violence behind closed doors. This can be due to an increase in alcohol consumption or feelings of anger or frustration, neither of which make abuse ok.

What a lovely evening at our very first Bold Women, Brave Stories book club meeting!

On Tuesday, we gathered at Nourish The Healthy Cafè to discuss our first book, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman—a powerful and thought-provoking story that sparked some fascinating conversations about women's experiences, mental health, and societal expectations.

Alongside great discussion, we also enjoyed some absolutely amazing cookies and plenty of laughs in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Our next book will be Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica—a gripping and unforgettable novel that is sure to give us lots to talk about!

If you'd like to join us for our next meeting, we'd love to welcome you. There’s no pressure, no expectations, and no need to be an expert reader—just a supportive group of women coming together to chat, connect, and share thoughts on great books.
