SUMMER ELECTIONS

Nominations are now open for the summer elections! We have two unfulfilled roles - if you want to be involved in the running of the society next year, don't hesitate to apply!

You must get free membership to Medical Humanities in order to stand for a role!

Nominate yourself via eActivities and voting will open on the 13th June 2022.

The positions available and the responsibilities involved are listed below.

Positions Available:
President (1) - Shall oversee the running of the entire society and ensure that it runs in line with the club constitution. They will also represent the society in management group board meetings.

Treasurer (1) - Shall oversee the day-to-day financial activities of the club. Also, in conjunction with the president, will sign an ICU Financial Responsibility form.

MedHumans! It is time to choose our committee for next year- if you want to be involved in the running of the society next year, don't hesitate to apply!

Nominations are now open! You have until 12pm on 4th March 2022 to stand for a role.

The deadline for manifesto submissions will be 2pm on Tuesday 8th March 2022.
The positions available and the responsibilities involved are listed below.

Positions Available:
President (1) - Shall oversee the running of the entire society and ensure that it runs in line with the club constitution. They will also represent the society in management group board meetings.

Secretary (1) - Shall ensure the administration and records for the society are kept in order and be responsible for communicating with our members. Responsible for producing meeting minutes and mailing list.

Treasurer (1) - Shall oversee the day-to-day financial activities of the club. Also, in conjunction with the president, will sign an ICU Financial Responsibility form.

Events Chair (1) - Shall be responsible for organising events, they will be aided by all other committee members.

Creative Marketing Officer (1) - Shall be responsible for advertising the society in order to maximise membership, attendance at events and increase interest from potential sponsors.

General Committee (4) - Shall assist all other committee members, support the running of events and other activities when needed

To kick off our Narratives series, we're excited to share a poem called 'The Missing Link' by Adya Rao, inspired by her experiences of chronic pain! You can read her poem below and follow her on Instagram

"Studying to become a doctor while simultaneously sitting on the other end of the table as a patient has not been easy. I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 13 and more recently from undiagnosed neurological symptoms. I have had endless encounters with medical professionals in different countries over the years without any significant relief. It became clear that traditional Medicine was failing chronic pain sufferers like me. Recently however, I joined a US-based pain psychology programme where I experienced an entirely different perspective to chronic pain and other functional symptoms. I learnt how chronic pain originates and persists, as well as neuroscience-based techniques to alleviate it. The answer lies in acknowledging the inextricable link between the mind and the body. I hope to share my own experience with aspiring doctors so that they can help patients before their suffering becomes inescapable and restore their confidence in the medical profession." - Adya Rao, 4th year Medical Student

Have you got a narrative to transform the way we look at medicine? Do you have a passion to channel your energy into something creative? Then we’re looking to be a platform to share work from people like you!

Whether your piece takes the form of poetry, performance, art, or a musing make sure you submit your work for a chance to be featured on our social media!

For our initial launch of our Narratives series, we're giving you the creative freedom to express what you feel inspires you the most! This could include themes like Experiences in Lockdown, Medical Life as a POC, to Duties of a Med Student during World Crises.
