Many doctors who complete CACTUS or another basic paediatric ultrasound course reach a point where they want to keep developing their skills — but finding local supervision or mentorship can be difficult.

We’ve been running our CACTUS course for three years, and a couple of weeks ago we held our first Advanced Paediatric PoCUS course.

This course is designed for clinicians who already have a foundation in paediatric ultrasound and want to build greater confidence, consistency and clinical judgement in lung, cardiac and abdominal scanning.

Listen to course lead Dr Zoltan Gyorgyi share his thoughts on the first course.

Don’t miss the next one — join us on 30 June: https://tinyurl.com/5e28nkva

We believe the best way to learn is by doing. That’s why all of our ultrasound courses are highly practical, offering plenty of hands-on scanning experience with live volunteers and state-of-the-art simulators.

If you’re new to ultrasound, we recommend starting with our Core Emergency Ultrasound course. Due to high demand, our June sessions were fully booked, so we have just added an additional date on Thursday, 18th June!

We offer 17 different PoCUS courses covering a wide range of specialties and experience levels, including Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Ultrasound for Surgeons, and many more.

Visit www.bromleyemergency.com to find the course that best suits your needs, or send us a DM and we’ll be happy to help you choose the option that matches your clinical interests and experience.

🚑Happy Emergency Medicine Day!🚑
This year's campaign highlights the following:

Every emergency medicine professional has the right to a safe working environment, free from violence, threats, or abuse, whether in hospitals, ambulances, or crisis zones.

🏥Ensure Safe and Equipped Facilities🏥
Emergency departments, pre-hospital services, and disaster response units must be fully equipped, secure, and staffed with trained personnel to deliver urgent care safely and effectively.

🚨Implement Safety Standards and Training🚨
International standards and safety-focused training for all emergency staff must be adopted to protect personnel, improve preparedness, and maintain high-quality care.

🚑Create Safe Systems for Major Emergencies🚑
Coordinated networks, protocols, and policies must be in place to ensure that major emergencies are managed safely, efficiently, and with full protection for staff and patients.

Wishing the very best of luck to everyone sitting the FRCEM SBA exam tomorrow! We hope you’re feeling calm, well prepared, and ready for the challenge.

Remember: if two answers seem reasonable, think carefully about what is safest, most appropriate, or most urgent in the scenario given.

We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for you and would love to hear how the exam goes afterwards! 🤞

As our educational programmes continue to grow, we are introducing several new academic and leadership opportunities within Bromley Emergency Courses.

These roles are designed to support course development, maintain high educational standards, and provide clinicians with a structured way to become more involved in medical education alongside clinical practice.

🎓 OSCE Stewardship Roles
Structured leadership positions within the OSCE programme:
• OSCE Station Steward – designing and improving OSCE stations
• Faculty Steward – developing faculty training and feedback processes
• OSCE Video Steward – designing and directing OSCE videos
⏱ Approximately 1–2 hours/week during active periods

📚 SBA Domain Leads (MRCEM & FRCEM)
Domain-based academic roles (e.g. Paediatrics, Cardiology, Toxicology, Resuscitation).
These roles involve reviewing and improving SBA questions and educational materials used across our courses, webinars, question banks, and curriculum tutorials. The focus is on quality, clarity, and exam alignment rather than high-volume question writing.
⏱ Approximately 1–2 hours/month

These opportunities are intentionally designed to fit alongside full-time clinical practice, and prior leadership experience is not essential.
