Let's Get Running

Let's Get Running Helping employees improve mental and physical health through running Remote working has been challenging for many of us.

Companies have much to gain from encouraging employees to step away from the screen and get some headspace. Outdoor exercise is uniquely placed to make significant impact on health and mental wellbeing. It's proven to protect mental health, boost the immune system and improve productivity by as much as 15%. Our global programme aims to both encourage employees to run but also to bring people toget

her, fostering a team atmosphere with monthly challenges, team webinars and a dedicated social channel. Connecting with others provides the greatest mental health impact.

The most productive "meeting" your team will have this week won't happen in a boardroom.

We have nothing per se against one off "Team Building" days, or after work drinks, but one costs a lot and the other one has a significant number of mental and physical health risks...

We reckon we have the solution: "Conversation Pace." In getting the team out of the office and running to a local park:

The Hierarchy Flattens: You can’t tell someone’s job title when you’re both breathing hard up a hill. It builds trust that an email chain never could.

Silos Break Down: The Developer talks to the Sales Lead. The Intern asks the CEO a question they’d be too nervous to ask in the lift. (I even witnessed a junior speak to the then Prime Minister, David Cameron in Green Park mid session)

The Brain "Unclogs": Movement triggers lateral thinking. Think of the business breakthroughs that might happen at rep 3.

The ROI isn't just "fitness." It’s a more connected, less stressed, and significantly more collaborative workforce.

Is your company culture moving, or is it standing still?

What can you expect when you join up for one of our company run clubs? A bit of this a bit of that really - but all overwhelmingly positive I reckon..

There are no work hierarchies once the laces are tied and coach Joel begins his session explanation. Where else can the CEO and the intern interact on an equal footing? The lactic burn feels no boundaries! Honest, real interaction between people, departments and teams is sometimes hard to instigate - but it's another string to our 'work run club' bow.

No barriers. All colleagues invited, noone left behind

You get 100's of emails a day, but the best one by far is the one that says: "See you at the front door in 5 minutes. 👟"

Sitting in front of the screen for 8 hours is exhausting. Not exhilarating, 'just run a flat out 5k tiring' but boring, brain numbingly exhausting. The kind of exhausting that puts you off the effort to get some outdoor exercise.

We get it. But we all know you will never regret lacing up the trainers and getting out there. You'll be a completely different person.

Our coach / run-dictator* led lunchtime run groups work because;

✨ Community: Real human faces, not a screen or the end of a phone line.
✨ Everyone involved: We all run together at the "speed of chat", to a local park, where you can push as much or as little as you like. Everyone catered for and no one left behind.
✨ A Brain Break: Give your inbox a rest and let your subconscious solve those problems while you move.

Look at that lovely photo of Cambridge Associates run group, getting out there in the snow. Would never have happened without the power of the collective.

* I'm trialling this title for the coaching team

It's been a while since I've been on social media, I've been too busy picking play dough out the carpet and making healthy dinners that 3 tiny humans refuse to eat, but I'm back!

Let's Get Running is still going, offering inclusive run clubs to forward thinking companies. To my mind, wellbeing isn't sedentary and it doesn't come from an app (though we do have one!), it comes from getting outside and moving your body.

We've been building a new exciting offering, so you might see me from time to time on here. See you round

OH AND I STILL BLOODY LOVE RUNNING.

Buzzing. Over a decade, and three kids after the last medal at a champs, I won 🥈at the British 100km champs.

Special thanks to Tom Cragg's and or giving me the nod, and all Robbie's sage advice in the leadup...and strongly worded advice at 60km. Thanks to .cameron1 for race day support (incl. copious diva ice bandana's and sodium tabs I kept dropping or exploding) and to and .

Nice one to .simon at for the lab testing that helped me fuel and pace pretty perfectly. Oh, and for the double running buggy that has actually turned my career back around. Who would have thought the school run could be so fruitful?!

Most importantly thanks to my understanding wife .wilmot who's put up with the smell of my running shorts lingering round the house for faaaaaar too long.
