We were proud to attend the Silver Jubilee Conference of the Sri Lanka College of Radiologists in Colombo from 18-21 September 2026 as a main partner of the event.

At the opening ceremony, our past President, Dr Kath Halliday, delivered the keynote address as Guest of Honour, sharing her vision for the future of radiology and the opportunities and challenges facing the specialty worldwide.

We were also delighted to be represented throughout the conference by Dr Joanna Kasznia-Brown (RCR Global Lead), Prof Sathi Sukumar, Dr Ramachandra Chittal, Dr Calvin Soh, Dr Nishant Omar, Dr Suresh Fernando and Dr Kyungmin Kim, who contributed across a wide range of sessions and discussions.

We value our strong relationship with the Sri Lankan radiology community, with more than 100 Sri Lankan radiologists currently among our membership. It was particularly rewarding to recognise two of these members at the conference, where they were awarded prestigious RCR Gold Medals for achieving the highest examination scores. Their success reflects the outstanding talent and commitment within the specialty, and we were pleased to celebrate this achievement with colleagues from across the profession.

Last month, our 2025 workforce census revealed the growing pressures facing clinical radiology and clinical oncology services across the UK.

As demand for imaging and cancer services continues to grow, healthcare workforces are under increasing pressure, with demand for complex imaging rising at more than twice the rate of growth in the radiology workforce, adding to existing challenges around staffing, training and delivering sustainable services.

Although these findings are based on the UK, many healthcare systems worldwide are facing similar issues as patient needs become more complex.
