Team Kitrinos A group of volunteers including professionals such as doctors, nurses and others.

We came together in response to the European Refugee Crisis of 2015 to support with the incoming refugees on the island of Lesvos, Greece We are a team made up of volunteer doctors, nurses, paramedics and other allied health professionals from all over the world. We work with translators and non-clinical staff with the aim of providing medical care to marginalised, displaced persons and refugees w

ho are deprived of good quality care. Our service came together around October 2015 during the peak of the European migrant crisis in Lesvos. We operated mobile clinics using the backs of ambulances as a dispensing pharmacy, examination/minor procedures room and even a place to catch up on much needed rest! Our ethos was to provide care where it was needed even if it means visiting tents, climbing to peaks of mountains or travel hundreds of kilometres to find the most abandoned and neglected people. All out to support *Dr Ang Swee, founder of Medical Aid for Palestinians.*

BMA: it’s time to stand up for a World-Famous Doctor

SUPPORTER will hand in a letter to the British Medical Association – deploring its decision to deplatform Dr Ang Swee Chai.

Spearheaded by CAMPAIN, the letter is signed by almost 3,500.

The BMA disinvited Dr Swee from an event where she was to share her experiences with medical students.

Dr Swee – the first female orthopaedic consultant to be appointed at Barts’ – founded MAP, after witnessing the slaughter by Israeli-supported Lebanese militias in the refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila in the early 80s.

She gave evidence to the Kahan Commission in Jerusalem which found that the then Defence Minister Ariel Sharon who had overseen the massacres was not fit to serve in the government.

Dr Swee has devoted her life to her NHS patients and to the well-being of Palestinians. Now in her late 70s, she still works for both causes.

By voting for four resolutions about the Gaza conflict at the BMA’s Annual Representatives Meeting (ARM) in June, BMA members:

- condemned the systematic destruction of hospitals, and the killing and detention of HCW

- called for unrestricted access for medical and humanitarian relief

- affirmed the right of healthcare professionals and medical students to criticise the actions of states and institutions that contravene international law, and demand the immediate revocation of punitive measures taken against perpetrators

- support the Hague-based international courts in their investigations and prosecution of war crimes…….

They will be seeking evidence that the BMA is implementing the ARM’s resolutions – standing up for Gaza health workers.
