Wow - this has been a challenge. In my search to find excercise that takes littke time but has maximum impact, I decided to try sprint interval training. Having not sprinted for quite some time this certainly was interesting!

I think the biggest barrier was psychological. Fear of falling or just looking like a right so so with all the youngsters training on the track. The first run was quite a challenge using muscles not used for many years! And the weight of my body thudding down with every stride 🤣. 4 days after my legs were in agony! But now, some runs down the line, they don’t hurt at all.

There’s a noticeable boost to mental clarity and it’s great to get the heart going. It’s actually feels great especially after quite a few years of struggling with menopause. It’s good to try new things.

Maybe give it a go? (Carefully!)

Some culinary highlights from the last 4 weeks including my birthday meal at on Columbia Rd - an absolutely outstanding meal - can’t recommend the restaurant highly enough. Melt in your mouth Cantabrian anchovies, Parmesan fritters, Petit Lucques olives - then some homemade salads roasted and marinated peppers, orange, fennel and sumac plus crab bites and finally, an absolutely banging salmon toasty from - top stuff!

Fascinating day with exploring fungi in Epping Forest. The assortment of tiny mushrooms you wouldn’t normally notice unless you get up close was fascinating. The crazy network of mycelium connecting and transferring nutrients to and from roots of trees is mind blowing. The black threads in the first photo are mycelium. Included in the photos are birch pollypor and dead moles fingers (the tall black thin ones)which is used in anti fungal compounds. Fascinating!

A week in Andalucia! We stayed in a small mountain village 30 mins outside of Ronda. A week of hikes and river swims and lots of local food. We ate lots of gazpacho, olives, padron peppers and some very hearty rice dishes plus delicious goats cheese salads. It was lovely to eat at family run restaurants which are only open certain days. The local vermouth went down well too!

Great first get together last week for our wellness network in Waltham Forest- a group dedicated to promoting wellbeing in the borough. It felt like we’d known each other for years!

So far acupuncturists, doulas, massage therapists, yoga and pilates teachers, osteopaths and psychotherapists have all joined our network. If you practice a wellness modality in the borough and would like to join, drop me a dm and come along to our next meeting.

Looking forward to what we can do together!
