Afro hair deserves more than being squeezed into advice designed without it in mind.

We want to understand your hair, your practices, and your priorities and help you make informed decisions from there.

Ever felt the person in front of you didn’t truly understand Afro-textured hair? ??

Send this to someone who has felt the same. Specialist understanding should be part of the consultation from the beginning.

A trichologist isn’t a specialist hairdresser, and good trichology isn’t about diagnosing you from an Instagram photograph.

Our role is to investigate hair and scalp concerns, understand relevant contributing factors, examine what is happening, and help you understand appropriate next steps.

And when something requires medical investigation? Recognising that is part of responsible care, too.

Save this for the next time you wonder whether a trichology consultation is right for you.

If your last hair consultation felt like a generic checklist, save this.

A proper assessment should leave you clearer about what is being investigated and why.

Your hair doesn’t exist separately from you.

When something changes, the answer isn’t always another product. Your history, health, scalp, routines, styling practices and experiences can all form part of the picture.

At Fulham Scalp & Hair Clinic, we start by listening.
We examine........
We investigate the wider picture.......
We explain what we’re seeing.....
Then we discuss appropriate next steps with you.

Particularly for Afro-textured hair, this means understanding your hair while respecting the cultural and styling practices that are part of your life.

Good care shouldn’t begin with an assumption. It should begin with you.

Ever left a hair appointment with products but no real explanation?

Follow for a different approach and when you’re ready, book a consultation built around understanding YOUR story.

Spoiler: it’s a lot more than you would expect

Spoiler: it’s a lot more than a cleanse and a massage.

If your scalp is still itching three days after wash- day, it probably isn't build-up.!!

Build-up behaves predictably....
It gathers slowly, it responds to washing, and it settles once it's cleared.

Itching, flaking, or tenderness that returns quickly or never quite leaves is usually telling you something different.....

That distinction matters more with Afro and textured hair, where wash days are spaced further apart .... The instinct is to assume the scalp needs a harder clean.🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠

Often, it needs the opposite: less friction, less stripping, and someone actually looking at it properly.

A scrub can't tell you what's happening on your scalp. A trichologist can!!!!!

Do you wash your scalp, or just your hair???

If yours has been asking for attention for a while, a consultation is a good place to begin.

A 26-year-old with a widening parting.......

A nine-year-old and her mum, who's more scared than she is........

A woman eight months postpartum, holding what came out in the shower......

A man who's been putting this off since 2019.......

Only one of them fits the stereotype!!! He's also the one who waited seven years because of it, and that's what the myth actually costs.

Not accuracy. Time.!!!!

A scalp assessment tells you what's happening and how long you've got to work with.

Nobody warns you about the shower drain.

Then the pillow.........
Then the sofa..............
Then the baby's fist........

Around half of new mums go through this!!!

Postpartum shedding peaks at 3–4 months and settles for most women by 6–12. It's not falling out, it's catching up!!!

But not every shed is that shed.
Still going past a year????
Worse instead of better????????
Exhausted in a way, sleep won't fix?????,

A trichological assessment tells you which one you're dealing with

Myth: Textured hair should be washed as little as possible.

Truth: Your scalp still needs regular cleansing.

For most people, it's not water that causes dryness it's harsh products, heat, and not replacing moisture after washing.

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. Cleanse your scalp, condition your lengths, and find a wash routine that works for your scalp.

👏👏Save this for wash day. If your scalp is always itchy or flaky, it may be time to see a trichologist.
