Dr.Gayetri Functional Medicine Practitioner

Dr.Gayetri Functional Medicine Practitioner Optimising your health through bespoke consultation This realisation led me to further my knowledge and expertise in to the area of Functional Medicine.

Having practiced for over 13 years as a Medical Doctor in UK specialising as a GP, I became personally aware from both my experiences and education, the problems/drawbacks and limitations within conventional medicine. Through personal lifestyle and simple nutritional changes along with focused nutritional supplementation I was able to fully transform my own personal health and now support hundreds

of patients to do the same using my blended functional and conventional approach. I support individuals across a whole spectrum of health challenges from Male and Female issues (including PCOS, sub fertility, menopause, hormonal imbalance), male health (Prostate Issues), gut health, diabetes, auto immune, fatigue and much more. I combine my 13 years' experience as a GP with extensive training and experience using a Functional Medicine approach with her clients. My systems are incredibly insightful, looking at every area of your life in depth giving you a full and true picture of your health. My conventional medicine background means I can spot anything serious and make immediate referrals, coupled with the testing systems I use being extremely thorough, providing you with over 3 x more insight and reporting than the standard NHS test results, making my approach to functional medicine robust and all encompassing

Functional medicine is a holistic approach examining how lifestyle, diet, genetics and the environment have a direct affect upon our health. The systems on which our bodies function can have both a positive and negative effect upon one another. Understanding this homeostatic balance, remembering that every individual is unique, allows us to address the root causes of an individual’s ailment, no matter how complex, rather than simply treating the isolated symptom using conventional medicine.

Longevity isn’t built through one supplement, one workout, or one “healthy” week.

It’s shaped by the small habits you repeat consistently over time, the way you sleep, eat, move, recover and support your nervous system every single day.

In Functional Medicine, we focus on these foundations early because how you age is influenced by far more than genetics alone.

These are 9 of the biggest things that you can start today to support energy, resilience, brain health and healthy ageing long-term.

Which one do you feel you need to work on most right now?

17/05/2026

I’ve been a doctor for 17 years now, and one thing I’ve learnt is that the habits we repeat daily have a huge impact on how we age.

Some of the biggest contributors I see to accelerated ageing are:

👉Poor sleep quality → when sleep suffers, the brain can’t detox properly, hormones become disrupted and the body struggles to repair and recover.

👉Blood sugar spikes → frequent spikes and crashes increase inflammation, impact energy and place stress on the body over time.

👉Chronic stress → constantly living in fight-or-flight mode affects everything from hormones and gut health to brain function and inflammation.

👉Ultra-processed foods → diets high in processed foods often increase inflammation while reducing the nutrients the body needs to function optimally.

👉A sedentary lifestyle → sitting for long periods impacts metabolic health, circulation, muscle mass and even brain health.

👉Low muscle mass → muscle is one of the biggest predictors of healthy ageing, resilience and metabolic health as we get older.

👉Poor gut health → an imbalanced microbiome can influence inflammation, immunity, mood and cognitive function.

👉Lack of recovery → constantly pushing without rest keeps the nervous system in survival mode and speeds up burnout.

The good news is that ageing is influenced by far more than genetics alone. Small, consistent changes can have a powerful impact on your long-term health, energy and resilience.

Longevity isn’t about trying to “anti-age” yourself, it’s about supporting your body differently as its needs evolve over time.

In this carousel, I’m sharing what I would personally focus on in each decade to support longevity, from stress resilience and blood sugar balance in your 30s, to hormone, bone and brain health as you move through your 40s and 50s.

While our priorities may shift over time, the goal stays the same: protecting your energy, resilience, strength and long-term quality of life.

In Functional Medicine, we take a proactive approach to ageing by looking at the foundations that influence how well you feel now and decades from now.

When it comes to ageing well, what you eat every day matters more than most people realise.

In Functional Medicine, we use food strategically, not just for nutrition, but to reduce inflammation, support brain health, balance hormones and protect your cells over time.

The goal isn’t perfection or restriction. It’s consistently choosing foods that support your body’s ability to repair, recover and stay resilient as you age.

These are some of the top foods I recommend when it comes to supporting both body and brain longevity.

Aging well isn’t about trying to stop the process, it’s about understanding what’s influencing how your body functions before symptoms and disease begin to appear.

The earlier you start supporting things like sleep, stress, gut health, hormones and nutrient status, the more opportunity your body has to stay energised, resilient and strong long-term.

This is the power of a proactive, personalised approach to health; not waiting for things to go wrong but creating the conditions for your body to thrive for years to come.

Food plays a much bigger role in your health than most people realise.

In Functional Medicine, we don’t just look at what you’re eating, we look at how food is influencing your energy, hormones, gut health and long-term wellbeing.

The same foods can support one person and disrupt another. That’s why we use food more intentionally; to reduce inflammation, stabilise blood sugar, support detox pathways and address underlying imbalances.

When you start using food in the right way, it becomes one of the most powerful tools for improving how you feel day to day.

Optimal health isn’t built on one quick fix; it’s shaped by the habits you repeat daily.

In Functional Medicine, we look at the body as a whole, focusing on the foundational habits that influence how you feel, function and heal.

From how you move your body to how you manage stress, nourish yourself, and support your energy, these are the areas that truly move the needle when it comes to long-term health.

It’s about shifting from simply managing symptoms to supporting your body in a more complete, sustainable way.

Healthy meals don’t have to be boring or complicated. In fact, some of the most nourishing meals are also the simplest.

I often hear from patients that eating well feels overwhelming, especially when they’re already busy, tired, or unsure where to start. And when we begin reducing processed foods, the question becomes: “What should I actually eat?”

This is where having a clear, simple framework makes all the difference.

In Functional Medicine, we focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods that support your body from the inside out. That means meals built around fresh vegetables, quality proteins, healthy fats, and balanced carbohydrates. These are the same principles I use in clinic to help patients improve digestion, support hormone balance, and stabilise energy levels.

Healthy eating isn’t about restriction or spending hours in the kitchen. It’s about choosing foods that nourish your body, are easy to prepare, and fit into your everyday life.

To make this easier, I’ve created a free whole foods recipe pack, filled with simple, practical meals that I regularly recommend to my patients. These recipes are designed to support symptoms like bloating, fatigue, and hormonal imbalances, while still being enjoyable and sustainable.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or unsure where to begin, this is a great place to start.

When it comes to supplements and wellness products, I’m very particular about what I recommend.

Not because more is better, but because the right support, at the right time, can make a meaningful difference to things like gut health, immunity, mood, hormonal balance and healthy ageing.

These are some of the products I regularly recommend in clinic because they meet the standards I look for when it comes to quality, effectiveness and supporting the body’s foundations.

Find the full list of these products I trust here: https://linktr.ee/dr.gayetri

Please always consult your medical practitioner before starting any new supplements, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a health condition.
