Could this new technology revolutionise eczema care?

Last week, our Experts by Experience Group heard from researchers from Heriot-Watt University who are developing a new skin sensor that could change the way eczema is assessed, diagnosed and treated.

The device is still undergoing clinical testing but early indications suggest it could perform as well as a dermatologists expert visual assessment.

This month we're highlighting three: a study testing a free online programme to help manage the itch-scratch cycle, a trial comparing systemic treatments and a register tracking how those treatments work long-term.

Caring for a child with eczema is one of the hardest things a parent can face. 🧡

Having a community to identify with matters, especially when you're living with eczema.

"My race is for everyone who has suffered with eczema"

On Sunday one of our fantastic supporters Hannah, ran her first ever race, the AJ Bell Great Bristol 10K. Not only did she get a new PB of 1:07:40 - she also raised an amazing £260 for Eczema UK!

Hannah has lived with eczema her whole life, and after a severe flare-up during her second year at university, Eczema UK became a charity very close to her heart.

One of the newest members of our Experts by Experience (EXEC) group, Oscar has lived with eczema for most of his life. In his late twenties, a severe flare cost him his job, his sleep, and for a time, his sense of self. Through years of trial, persistence, and understanding of his own triggers, he has gained much more control over his eczema.

Eczema is often seen as “just a skin condition”, but for many people, the impact goes far beyond the skin.

Living with eczema can affect confidence, sleep, relationships, work, school and everyday wellbeing. The itching, discomfort and visibility of eczema can take a real toll on mental health, particularly during difficult flare-ups.
