We want to shine a spotlight on David Henry, one of 20 runners taking on the Great North Run this September in support of Eczema UK.

David has lived with eczema since birth, and the condition worsened considerably when he turned 27, affecting all areas of his life. A new biological medication has since restored his confidence and given him a new lease of life, motivating him to take part in the Great North Run to raise awareness of eczema.

Having already surpassed his original Β£300 target, now approaching Β£750, David set himself a further challenge: nine events across 2026, including the Ultra Challenge, totalling an impressive 1000K, all fundraising for Eczema UK. πŸ‘

David's dedication and generosity reflect the strength of our fundraising community. Read his full story and support his fundraising via the link below.

πŸ“’ We are thrilled to announce that 44 incredible runners will be taking on the London Marathon for Eczema UK!

We usually have just 4 places each year, but thanks to the new Saturday running day, we were able to secure 40 more, meaning more of our amazing supporters than ever get to run for the eczema community.

All 44 places have now been allocated, and we cannot wait to cheer on every single one of our runners as they take on this incredible challenge in support of everyone affected by eczema.

Thank you to each and every runner for your commitment, training and fundraising. Watch this space for more from our team in the lead up to race day.

Help us better understand eczema in babies.

The CARE Study, led by the Paediatric Dermatology team at St Thomas' Hospital, is exploring how eczema develops in early life by comparing babies with eczema to those with healthy skin.

They're recruiting babies aged 0 to 6 months, with or without eczema, for a single visit involving gentle, non-invasive skin assessments. Families also get expert skincare advice from a dermatology doctor.

Together, we're working towards better, earlier care for babies with eczema.

πŸ‘ Huge congratulations to Isaac, who completed his kids' triathlon in an incredible 21 minutes and 40 seconds, all in support of Eczema UK!

Isaac has experienced eczema since he was a baby, and the last 18 months have been especially tough, including a two-week hospital stay and missing out on school and social activities he loves. Determined to turn that experience into something positive, he took on the triathlon to raise money for research and to help spread awareness of eczema.

Isaac raised an amazing £200 for Eczema UK. We are so proud of him and incredibly grateful for his support 🧑

If you'd like to fundraise for Eczema UK too, get in touch, we'd love to help you get started.

πŸ“’ We're proud to announce two new PhD studentships as part of our 2025/26 Research Grant Programme.

One project is exploring how to repair the skin barrier at the source of eczema. The other is examining how online information shapes trust in treatment and healthcare advice.

Two different questions, one shared goal: better outcomes for everyone affected by eczema.

Scratching makes eczema itch more, not less πŸ”„

It's called the itch-scratch cycle, and if you live with eczema, you already know it well. The itchier your skin feels, the more you scratch. The more you scratch, the worse your eczema gets.

A new study lead by the Rapid Eczema Trials team is looking at whether a simple, 3-part online programme (Scratch Less) can help people manage scratching and improve their eczema.

"Don't wait for perfect skin before you start living. Your worth has never been measured by your skin, and neither is your potential. Eczema may be part of your story, but it doesn't have to be the thing that writes your future."

Sophie, 21, recently competed in Miss Great Britain in the middle of a severe eczema flare - and finished as First Runner-Up and winner of the Fashion Award! An incredible achievement.

Just before her fashion walk, her legs flared badly. But instead of letting that knock her confidence, she walked out anyway. Her courage to compete and bravery to be her authentic self really inspires us, and we hope it does the same for you.

Sophie also met up with Natalia, whose story we shared with you a couple of weeks ago! They connected through the posts we made, and we're so happy we could bring them together.
