📣 Our new report on Care and Support is available to download.

Don't Call Me Resilient looks at how care and support systems are failing people with intellectual disabilities and their families, based on what people in 42 countries told us.

💚 61% say families are simply assumed to be the main providers of care
🤝 40% of families get no support at all from their community
🗣️ People with intellectual disabilities give care too, and they need support as well

Families should not have to be strong because the system is weak.

📍 The UN working group on a new Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child meets in Geneva this week, 31 August to 2 September, negotiating new commitments on free pre-primary and secondary education.

240 million children with disabilities have the right to inclusive, equitable and quality education. They are still among the most systematically excluded. Without explicit provisions on disability inclusion, "free education" will remain an empty promise for millions of children.

Monica Cortes shares Inclusion International's statement. We are calling for the right to education to be defined as the right to inclusive education, for "free" to include disability related costs, for zero rejection policies so no school can turn a child away, and for inclusive pre-primary and secondary education in every community.

Enrolment is the beginning, not the end. Free education is not universal until every child is included.

What does it take to include children with disabilities in education during a humanitarian crisis?

For the past three years, Inclusion International has worked with the International Disability Alliance and our members in Colombia and Niger, with funding from Education Cannot Wait, to find out.

Together, we have worked with teachers, humanitarian organisations and families to test what works. Our members have led that work every step of the way.
Now we are turning those lessons into three new learning modules for our members 🌍

Our movement at .

This week at COSP19, Inclusion International members came together in New York to connect, share experiences, and strengthen our work for inclusion and rights around the world.

Representatives from across our global network met alongside self-advocates, families, and allies to discuss the issues that matter most to people with intellectual disabilities and their families.

COSP is an important opportunity for our movement to bring lived experience into global conversations. We are proud to stand together and continue pushing for the full implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
