💜 Our 2025 Impact 💜

Behind every number is a dementia carer who reached out for support, information or guidance when they needed it most.
In 2025 we supported over 8,500 dementia carers:
• 1,348 dementia carers received tailored support from our specialists
• 6,856 people accessed our online information and guidance
• 346 dementia carers joined our peer support groups

Every contact matters. Every conversation counts. And we’re here to make sure dementia carers don’t feel alone.

As we grow in 2026, we’re looking ahead with ambition — to support more carers, strengthen our campaigning, and build long-term sustainability so we can be there for everyone who needs us, now and in the future.

Thank you to everyone who trusts us to support them 💜!

Someone living with dementia may be eligible for a Personal Independence Payment (PIP). 💜

PIP is designed to support people who need help with everyday tasks or mobility, such as washing, dressing, managing medication, or getting around safely.

If you feel that the person you care for is having difficulty with daily activities, or is needing help from you to manage them, then it may be time to claim Personal Independence Payment.
We know the process can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re already caring for someone. That’s where we can help. Our team can talk through your situation, explain what you may be entitled to, and support you with the application process.

💜 This , we’re saying a huge thank you to our Trustees and members of our Carers Advisory Panel for the time, care and expertise they give to Dementia Carers Count.

💜 We support the Fix the funding campaign! 💜
Paying for care is something many families worry about, and the rules around who pays for what can be complex and overwhelming.

Some people may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding if their primary need is for healthcare rather than social care. This funding can make a real difference, helping to cover care at home or in a care home.

However, accessing CHC funding is often complicated and confusing for families at an already difficult time.

That’s why we’re supporting Dementia UK’s campaign, along with 11 other health charities, calling on NHS England to review the CHC assessment process, so it better reflects the cognitive, behavioural and care needs of people living with dementia.

👉 Sign the petition today: https://action.dementiauk.org/fix-nhs-continuing-healthcare to help families get the support they need.

💜 Welcome to June 💜

This month, we’re continuing to shine a light on dementia carers and the realities many face every single day.

Behind closed doors, carers are balancing medication, appointments, emotional support, disrupted sleep, financial pressure, loneliness, and the ongoing responsibility of caring for someone they love — often while putting their own wellbeing last.

Throughout June, we’ll be sharing guidance, stories, support, and practical advice to help carers feel more informed, supported, and less alone.

We’ll also be marking Carers Week and World Continence Week, with dementia carer Lesley sharing more about her personal experiences caring for her mum. Through her honest and heartfelt insights, Lesley will talk about the realities of day-to-day caring, including some of the more difficult and emotional challenges carers can face, and why open conversations around continence, our emotions, and the support carers need matter so much.

Follow us to hear Lesley’s story!

If you need support, our free Carer Support Line is here to help. 💜

This month marked Dementia Action Week, a time to shine a light on the reality of living with dementia and, most importantly, the voices of those who care.

Across the UK, dementia carers shared powerful experiences of love, resilience, and exhaustion — describing the emotional and physical weight of caring day in, day out, often with limited support. Many spoke about the moments that go unseen: the sleepless nights, the loss of identity, and the determination to keep going for the person they love.

But alongside the challenges, carers also spoke about connection, dedication, and the deep sense of purpose that comes with caring. Their voices are a reminder that dementia doesn’t just affect one person — it affects whole families.

Dementia Action Week may be over, but support is available all year round 💜

If you are caring for someone living with dementia and need advice, information, or emotional support, you are not alone. Help is available.
