🎉 Can you help make our Fundraising Ball a success? 🎉

Our Hughes APS Trust Fundraising Ball on 14th November is being organised by a wonderful mother-and-daughter team who are both APS patients. They are generously volunteering their time and energy to create a very special evening for our charity.

We are currently looking for:

🎁 Raffle prizes with a minimum value of £5
⭐ Auction items, such as experiences, vouchers, products or services
🥂 Welcome drink sponsor – £700
🎧 DJ sponsor – £500
🎶 Live band sponsor – £2,500

Every donation and sponsorship will help us raise vital funds to support people affected by antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), as well as our work in education and research.

Sponsorship is also a wonderful opportunity for businesses to support a small charity while receiving recognition at our event.

Looking back at our Hughes APS Trust Patient Meeting

In May, patients, families, healthcare professionals and supporters came together for an afternoon of information, shared experiences and connection.

We were delighted to welcome our guest speakers, hear valuable insights into antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and give members of our community the opportunity to ask questions and meet others who understand the realities of living with the condition.

This short video captures some of the highlights from a very special day.

A special thank you to our volunteer filmmaker, Anish, for generously giving his time to create this video for us.

Thank you to everyone who attended in person or joined us online, to our speakers and trustees, and to everyone who helped make the meeting possible.

Events like this are an important part of our work to support patients, reduce isolation, improve understanding of APS and bring our community together.

We aim to make the Patient Meeting an annual event, with a full hybrid setup to provide an inclusive and accessible experience for both in-person and online attendees.

🩸 APS Awareness Day – 9 June 🩸

Today, on APS Awareness Day, we are raising awareness of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) – a serious autoimmune condition that can cause blood clots, stroke, heart attack, pregnancy complications and other life-changing health issues.

APS remains under-recognised, and many people face delays in diagnosis. By increasing awareness, we can help more people receive the diagnosis, treatment and support they need.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this post and starting conversations about APS.

Together, we can improve awareness, support patients, advance research and create change.

Our updated Antiphospholipid Syndrome (Hughes Syndrome) patient information leaflet is now available to download and print for use in clinics and GP practices.

It provides clear, patient-friendly information

We hope this supports conversations between patients and healthcare professionals and helps improve understanding of APS.

What a fantastic day!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Patients' Meeting, whether in person or online. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, meet new members of the APS community, and spend time learning, sharing experiences and supporting one another.

A special thank you to our speakers for their time, expertise and openness, and to St Thomas' Hospital for hosting us. We are also grateful to everyone behind the scenes who helped make the event possible.

Professor Hughes was delighted to see so many people engaged with the charity and its work, and we are excited about what the future holds for the Hughes APS Trust.

Can’t make it to our Patients' meeting in person?

As a small charity, it’s important to us to balance accessibility with maintaining a strong in-person event and sense of community on the day.

We know that for many people, travel, fatigue, health or distance can make attending difficult, so we hope this livestream option allows even more people to take part. The livestream will be a simple, fixed camera view of the presenter and slides.

Great news — we’ve spoken with St Thomas’ and we’re able to live-stream our Patients’ Meeting, so even more of our community can be part of it!

Our priority is still bringing everyone together in person, and we’d absolutely love to see as many of you there as possible.

The live stream will be a simple presenter view. We’ll be inviting questions in advance, with a few taken live on the day if possible.

We’re just confirming whether recording will be possible and will update you soon.
