Yesterday afternoon, our hearts were completely full as we hosted a wonderful afternoon tea at Langdon Hills Golf and Country Club to celebrate some truly incredible local charities. πŸ’™βœ¨

The afternoon was dedicated to recognising these wonderful charities and distributing a staggering Β£36,000 raised by our recent Charity Golf Day. We are completely humbled by the hard work, selflessness, and kindness of the people who dedicate themselves to helping others. It was an absolute privilege to listen to each charity speak with such passion about the work they do to support our local community.

This wonderful total was only made possible thanks to the incredible support of everyone involved in our Golf Day. We are so proud to share the total raised among these fantastic charities:
✨ St Luke’s Hospice
✨ Changing Pathways
✨ Thurrock Foodbank
✨ Thurrock First Responders
✨ BOSP
✨ Thurrock & Brentwood MIND
✨ Indee Rose Trust
✨ CHAPS
✨ Thurrock Scouts Playscheme
✨ Treetops School
✨ Papworth Trust Basildon
✨ Peaceful Place
✨ Wipe Away Those Tears
✨ Basildon Hospital Radio
✨ George’s Windmills
✨ MCA Trust
✨ Sycamore Trust UK
✨ HAD (Havering Association for Disabled)
✨ Gone Too Soon
✨ Gold Geese
✨ Kideco
✨ J's Charity

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every single golfer, sponsor, and supporter who showed such immense generosity, and thank you to our incredible charity partners for being the true heartbeat of our community. πŸ™ŒπŸ’™

πŸ’š Hope through light πŸ’š World Su***de Prevention Day

Tonight, Clacton Town Hall will be illuminated green, alongside dozens of landmarks across Essex, to mark World Su***de Prevention Day, remembering every life lost to su***de and reminding people that support is available.

The Light Up campaign, created by Essex ICB and Thurrock and Brentwood Mind aims to raise awareness, help reduce the stigma in talking about su***de and direct people to vital resources.

In 2025, 145 people died by suspected su***de across Greater Essex. From 2021 to 2025, four in every five suspected su***des were men, while su***de remains the leading cause of post-natal death in women between six weeks and 12 months after birth.

Ian Davidson, Chief Executive of Tendring District Council and SET Su***de Prevention Board Lead:

"Every su***de is a tragic event which affects a huge number of people. In Essex three times as many people die from su***de than in traffic accidents so it is so important to understand the causes and what we can do collectively."

You can help make a difference by completing the free 20-minute Let's Talk About Su***de Essex training. More than 5,000 people across Essex have already taken part, learning how to See, Say, Signpost and Support someone who may be struggling.

πŸ’š Today is World Su***de Prevention Day

Across the county, landmarks are lighting up green to show support, raise awareness and remind us that su***de prevention is something we can all play a part in.

Every life lost to su***de is one too many.

You don’t need to be a mental health professional to make a difference. Sometimes, knowing what to say, how to listen and where to signpost someone for help can be the thing that makes someone feel less alone.

That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to take the free 20-minute su***de prevention training available on our website www.letstalkaboutsu***de.co.uk.

It takes just 20 minutes β€” but what you learn could stay with you for a lifetime and could help you support someone when they need it most.

The website is also a repository for anyone in crisis or struggling with local and national helplines, charities and information.

πŸ’š Take 20 minutes.
πŸ’š Learn how to start the conversation.
πŸ’š Know how to support someone.
πŸ’š Help us create a community where no one feels they have to face things alone.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, make those 20 minutes count.

🐾 What a wonderful Sunday! πŸ’™

On Sunday, some of our team had a fantastic time at the Reach Family Fun Day & Dog Show, meeting members of the community and chatting about the mental health support and services we offer.

It was such a lovely day, and we really enjoyed meeting so many friendly faces and, of course, plenty of four-legged ones too! 🐢

If you’re hosting an event, running a business or part of an organisation and would like us to come along to talk about mental health and the support available, we’d love to hear from you.

πŸ’› Smashing the Stigma – An Evening of Support, Understanding & Connection

This event is an opportunity to come together, share experiences, connect with others who understand and help break down the stigma that can surround su***de and bereavement.

Supported by a number of local organisations including ourselves, all working together to raise awareness, reduce stigma and provide support to our community.

πŸ’œ Sometimes, it’s not about what we ask, but how we ask it.

When someone we love is struggling, we naturally want to help. But getting someone to admit they’re finding things difficult or accept support can sometimes feel challenging.

They may worry about being a burden, feel like they should cope on their own, or simply not know how to say they need help.

Sometimes, a small change in the way we ask can make a big difference πŸ’œ
