Liver Cancer Awareness Month
Liver cancer can be difficult to recognise in its early stages. Knowing the possible symptoms and seeking medical advice when something does not feel right can make a difference.
Symptoms of liver cancer can include
- The whites of your eyes turning yellow or your skin turning yellow
- Loss of appetite or losing weight without trying to
- Feeling tired or having no energy
- Feeling generally unwell or having symptoms like flu
- A lump in the right side of your tummy
You may be at a higher risk of developing liver cancer if you:
- Are aged 60 or over
- Have a close family member who has had primary liver cancer
- Have certain health conditions, including hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, gallstones, diabetes or HIV
- Have a liver fluke infection, caused by a parasitic worm
Be aware of changes in your health, and do not ignore persistent or unusual symptoms. Your health matters. Awareness is the first step.
