๐Ÿ’š Here's what you can realistically expect:

1. More stable energy through the day, less of the afternoon crash, less relying on caffeine and sugar to keep going.
2. Clearer thinking. The brain fog that feels normal after a while isn't actually normal, and it tends to lift when blood sugar and nutrition are sorted.
3. A calmer stress response. Not that life gets less stressful, but that your body stops reacting to everything as if it's an emergency.
4. Much better sleep. When your nervous system isn't stuck in high alert, sleep improves naturally.
5. Fewer cravings, especially for sugar and carbs in the evening, as these are almost always a sign something's off with blood sugar or cortisol.
6. Feeling more like yourself!

Those three questions at the top of this post? I picked them because they're a few of the things I hear most from people who come to see me. Not dramatic symptoms, but more of a quiet sense that something's off and has been for a while.

That's exactly what Kathleen and I designed this programme for. And we start this Wednesday June 10 at 1-2pm for the next 4 consecutive weeks (recordings are available too).

So if any of this sounds familiar, now's the time.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ12th May is FIBROMYALGIA AWARENESS DAY.

Itโ€™s an invisible and debilitating chronic condition where sufferers feel pain all over their body.
It often also presents with brain fog, insomnia and extreme fatigue.

Many sufferers struggle to work and it can seriously impinge on day to day living. It affects around 2-5 percent of the population and is most common in middle aged women, but can affect people of all ages.

I should know as I have had it for about 18 years. Very mildly these days thankfully though.

ADHD is four times more common in those with fibromyalgia (29.5%) than in those without.
I have both conditions.

It is not fully understood but it is believed to be caused by abnormal pain processing in the central nervous system. And it many cases it is triggered by a physically or emotionally traumatic event such as:-

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“CAUSES
An injury or a virus
Giving birth
An operation
Stressful event like relationship breakdown or a bereavement etc
But be primed by traumatic events in childhood.

Mine started after very stressful external events, then a nasty virus that knocked me for six (I had weeks of post-viral fatigue after it where I was bedridden).

๐Ÿ˜ญTo be honest it totally ruined my life for about 2 years. Feeling in extreme pain all the time was soul destroying.
But I have worked v hard with dietary measures, supplements, lab tests and lifestyle interventions. I nolonger have the fatigue or insomnia and I am v lucky many days the pain is so low I forget about it.

I feel for other sufferers so much, as there is so little understanding about chronic conditions such as this one. There is also stigma and many uneducated doctors are frankly woeful and suggest itโ€™s all in your mind. (Tell that to research from brain scans and hospitals which completely validates this condition and to all the sufferers who live with it).

So I am sending much love and sympathy for the many other people with FM.

And I am here to tell you there is always hope ๐Ÿ™.โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Over the years I have written poetry as an outlet for pain, sadness, discomfort - when lifeโ€™s blows have threatened to steer me off course. To process feelings and for healing and cultivation of inner strength.

I wrote this poem over the Easter holidays as I was wrestling with sorrow, having lost friends which I believe were as a result of implications of having ADHD.
But it also explores some positives of the condition and how Iโ€™ve moved on.

I have not shared any poems before โ˜บ๏ธ so I hope you enjoy it!

Share with any fellow ADHDโ€™ers ๐Ÿ’•โœจ๐ŸŒŸโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ

Caption for the bircher muesli:

"Blood sugar balance is often one of the things I come back to again and again with clients, and breakfast is where it either starts well or goes sideways.

Bircher muesli when done properly, is one of the best options. Slow-release oats, fibre, a bit of fat and protein to steady the curve. This is the kind of breakfast that makes sure you're still thinking clearly at 11am rather than eyeing up the biscuit tin.
I've been making a version of this for years.

I talk about this with clients a lot, because it genuinely surprises people, and it changes how they think about their anxiety.

We're so conditioned to see anxiety as a mind problem, something to manage through thoughts and behaviour, and that matters too, but if the gut side of things is being ignored, you're only working with half the picture.

The latest blog post goes into the detail: what's actually happening, what to eat, what makes things worse, and why things like antibiotics and chronic stress are more relevant to your mental health than most people realise.
