In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we believe warm foods help the body thrive ✨
With our natural temperature around 36–37°C, cooked meals support digestion so your body can focus on absorbing nutrients and building Qi & Blood.

Another simple idea to try:
Vegetable-rich omelet 🍳
Take vegetables that you have like mushrooms, courgette, cabbage & tomatoes sautéed in ghee until soft, then add 2 whisked eggs, cover with a lid and cook for a few minutes… done!

Nourishing, warm, and easy 🌿

The 8 Principles — how we read your body in TCM 🌿The 8 Principles — how we read your body in TCM 🌿
Four pairs of opposites that map any imbalance.
Yin & Yang — Yin is coolness, rest, moisture. Yang is warmth, movement, fire. Is one in excess or deficiency?
Interior & Exterior — is the problem deep in the organs, or at the surface? A seasonal cold is exterior. Chronic fatigue is interior.
Cold & Heat — Cold: pale, slow, better with warmth. Heat: inflamed, restless, worse with warmth.
Deficiency & Excess — too little (depleted, undernourished) or too much (blocked, congested)? Chronic pain is usually deficiency. A sudden infection usually excess.
These four pairs help me understand not just what hurts — but why, and what the body truly needs.
This is why TCM is always individual. 💛

I sometimes share the most common complaints I see in the clinic, like anxiety, back pain, digestive disorders, gynecological issues. This time I would like to present them to you in TCM form.
So I most often see Liver Qi Stagnation and Spleen/Kidney Qi Deficiency.
How Liver Qi can present- Tightness in the muscles, sighing, irritability, irregular/painful periods, PMS, bloating after meals, constipation, headaches.
Spleen Qi Deficiency can present as - abnormal appetitie, either no apptetite, snacking, looser stools, low energy.
Kidney Qi Deficiency- lower back pain, knee pain, urination at night, periomenopausal symptoms like night sweats, tiredness
Can you see the corelations to western medicine complaints?
The best way to support the liver is gentle movement, adding lemon to your morning warm water. To support the Spleen TCM would suggest eating cooked only foods, all at room temperature but ideally warmer. Kidneys benefit from being kept warm- protecting the back and lower abdomen from cold and most importantly from rest.

Spring is the season of the Liver. 🌿
And your Liver loves this time of year — if you let it do its job.
A little support goes a long way right now:
🌱 eat more greens — asparagus, rocket, spinach
🌿 Add fresh herbs generously — parsley, coriander, mint, chives
🍋 warm lemon water in the morning
😮‍💨 move your body, gentle walk, simple 10-20 min Yoga in the morning — the Liver loves movement
😮‍💨 Breathe deeply — the Liver governs the free flow of Qi, and breath moves it
😴 sleep before 11pm — this is when the Wood (Gallbladder and Liver) restores
🧘‍♀️ let go of what's been building up — tension, anger, old plans that no longer fit
In TCM, spring is the natural time to clear, move and begin again.
Your Liver is ready. Are you? 🌸

Your lower back pain keeps coming back because you keep disregarding the body's signals 🔥
In TCM, the lower back is the mansion of the Kidneys.
With chronic pain there isn't just a muscle problem.
It's a depletion problem.
Overwork. Poor sleep. Chronic stress. Cold exposure.
Year after year — the Kidney reserve runs low.
And the lower back is the first place to feel it. 🫘

Cold feet, painful that stop you in your tracks. Struggling to conceive. ❄️🌿
In TCM, these aren't three separate problems — they're one body asking for warmth, nourishment and flow.
I've recently treated quite a few young women who came in for painful periods and left understanding why their feet were always cold, why their blood came out dark and clotted.
It all points to one root pattern. ❄️➡️🔥

In TCM, these aren't three separate problems — they're one body asking for warmth, nourishment and flow.

🌿 We are in lovely, vibrant Spring, it is the season of the liver in TCM — and green is its colour

In Chinese medicine, Spring belongs to the Wood element: the energy of growth, upward movement, and renewal. The Liver- organ associated with Wood, governs the smooth flow of energy Qi through the body.

When we eat with the season, we support that flow.

Here are some spring greens to bring to your table:

🥬 dandelion greens — bitter, cooling, a classic liver tonic
🌱 pea shoots — sweet and uplifting, gentle on digestion
🫛 asparagus — moves stagnation, warms the body
🍃 spinach — nourishes blood, calms the liver’s rising heat
🌿 fresh coriander — disperses qi, supports detox pathways
🥒 courgette — neutral, moistening, easy on the digestive qi
🫘 edamame — tonifies the spleen, a grounding source of plant protein

keep it simple — a light stir-fry, or a green congee. The liver loves sour too, so a squeeze of lemon over everything goes a long way.

Eat green, move gently, let things rise. 🌱

Your subconscious is always working behind the scenes to keep you safe 🤍
But when we let it run the show, we can get stuck in constant fight-or-flight.

It takes conscious effort to slow down, be present, and notice the good that already exists in our lives. To zoom out and see the bigger picture. To let go.

Mindfulness and breathwork aren’t just trends—they’re powerful, science-backed practices that can actually shift your brain chemistry and support your whole body.

Small, gentle moments can create real change.

Have you tried it yet? ✨
