The beginning of a relationship is meant to overflow.

It’s new. It’s exciting. It’s full of dopamine and possibility.

But love isn’t meant to stay in overflow mode.
It’s meant to settle into safety. Into calm. Into consistency.

If you’ve experienced deep emotional wounds, the “baseline” can feel unfamiliar… even unsafe. So you unconsciously try to recreate the intensity — more reassurance, more closeness, more validation.

But when love feels like it’s never enough, your partner starts carrying the pressure of filling a glass that can’t stay full.

Real security isn’t found in overflow.
