I‘m not a fan of ZOE and especially their pricey and unnecessary supplements, but I know many people have fallen for their omnipresent marketing. If you take the 30+ supplement, you might want to take it back to Waitrose as “stones and small pieces of metal“ are certainly not beneficial to your gut health.

Today’s quick lunch is 300g sirloin (65g of protein) eaten with the fat (yummy!), okra (has gut soothing properties) and homemade sauerkraut (natural probiotic). I used red cabbage because it has more polyphenols than white (and looks cool 😜). All made in under 10 minutes as the okra is fried in the same pan as the steak and the sauerkraut is just spooned on from the fridge.
Best part: no afternoon slump as no blood sugar spike. And full until tomorrow which allows an extended fast.

Hotel room in US comes with fancy coffee machine, two types of sugar and this. It says “creamer”. Can you detect any cream in it? Or anything that resembles milk? 🥛 Had my coffee black…😬

The results are in…🙈
So I am dealing with “mixed” SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) which is a common result among my clients. Thankfully I recognised the symptoms pretty quickly, got tested and now know what to do.

I am currently away from the UK (in beautiful Jávea 😍), so focussing on diet until I return, but will be ordering the antimicrobials in for a swift start when I get back.

Feeling already so much better since changing my diet, a lot less bloating and no constipation or urgency to go.

The weight that I gained in record time without eating more due to the slower digestion is also slowly coming off. It was driving me mad! 😅

Have been having some gut issues lately and wondered if it’s SIBO. So I ordered a SIBO test as the best way to find out if my gut symptoms are caused by bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine.

The prep diet is a bit of a boring day of chicken, rice and eggs 🥱, and it takes 10 minutes spread out over 3 hours to take breath samples at dedicated times, but it can all be done at home.
Within a couple of weeks I’ll know for sure if the recent change in bowel movements, bloating and weight gain is caused by an overgrowth of bacteria and /or archeae in my small intestine.

Can’t wait to find out my results!

Nice surprise lunch from my 12-year old today… toasted pita bread with hummus and tzatziki, tomatoes with cream cheese, cucumbers and red peppers. 🍅🌶️🥒
My kids also eat pizza and ice cream like most other kids, but it’s always refreshing to see when they opt for fresh colourful food (and even make it themselves!) because they like it. Having a nutritionist Mum must rub off after all 💪😅.

Immune boosting shots - the first winter flu has hit our household, so while taking care of the coughing germ distributor, I thought it would be good to protect my own health and also smuggle some immune system support into his juice.
This one contains ginger, turmeric root and garlic for their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, oranges and lemons for vitamin C, apples for quercitin (good against lung restriction) and carrots for vitamin A.
When serving, add a teaspoon of olive oil and some ground black pepper for polyphenols and better absorption.

Keeps in a closed glass bottle in the fridge for a few days or freeze in ice cube tray for portion sized shots.
