How long do you think you can live without air (O2)?
How long do you think you can live without water? (H2O)
How long do you think you can live without food? (energy)
Average figures are 3mins without oxygen - currently air containing oxygen is just there, hanging around, so I think we're good there unless something really bizarre happens to the earth.. Yes we have problems with air pollution, but as far as I know oxygen is not about to disappear from our air
3 days without water.. That's not a given, we have to be near a water source and it needs to be drinkable for us
3 weeks without food, well if we're in an environment we can at least forage, hunt etc we should be ok, and at least 3 weeks gives us a bit more time to sort things out!
My point is surely water is our most important and valued commodity, essential to life?
Yet it's the one people seem to mostly take for granted, if they live in developed country
Yet it's the one thing, if not managed properly by humans, that could royally F us up as a species very quickly if we're not careful
Of course water is not only important for drinking, but farming. All living things and all biological processes rely on water
Water is life
The Big Short, a movie about a group of American financial professionals who predicted and profited from the build-up and subsequent collapse of the housing bubble in 2007 and 2008, including Michael Burry, had some telling information before the credits rolled if you stayed to read what was on the screen after the end…
Said of Michael Burry : “the small investing he still does is all focused on one commodity: water”
To me this makes total sense, we can't rely on drinkable water being accessible to us or water being accessible to the places we need to farm our food as a given
Yet I see a huge gap in people thinking about or investing in water solutions…
People are generally still seeing thinking about water solutions as a nice to have not a necessity
Well it only takes 3 days for someone's mind to change on on that..
Water is life
I'm calling it on a water revolution happening within the next 5-10 years
It will become the most valued commodity
