Never Choose a Married Man Who Won’t Choose You
There is one thing every woman should remember when dealing with a married man:
Do not fall in love with his promises. Look at his actions.
Words are easy. Promises are easy. A man can tell you that he is unhappy, misunderstood, trapped, lonely, staying because of the children, worried about money, afraid of upsetting his family, concerned about his reputation, or waiting for the “right time.”
But eventually, you have to stop listening to the story and start looking at the truth.
What has he actually done?
How long has he been making the same promises?
Six months? Two years? Five years?
How many times has he told you that things will change “soon”?
A man’s actions will eventually reveal what his words are trying to hide.
Courage Looks Like Action
Never give your heart to a married man unless his life shows the courage to stand behind what he says.
If he genuinely believes you are the woman he wants to build a future with, then at some point he must be willing to face his reality and make clear, responsible decisions.
That does not mean acting recklessly or without care toward his existing family. It means having the maturity to stop living divided, unclear lives and to deal honestly with the situation he is in.
In some faith traditions, including Islam, a man may be permitted more than one marriage under strict conditions of justice, responsibility, and full transparency. But even in those cases, it is never meant to involve secrecy, confusion, or emotional uncertainty. A man who is truly committed will not keep a relationship hidden or undefined.
A truthful man does not keep one woman hidden while repeatedly promising her a future.
An honourable man understands that love requires responsibility.
And a man of faith should fear his Lord more than he fears gossip, appearances, social status, or the opinions of other people.
Stop Blaming His Wife
One of the easiest traps to fall into is believing:
“If it wasn't for his wife, we would be together.”
Perhaps he tells you she is difficult.
Perhaps he says she controls everything.
Perhaps he says she will take his money, turn his children against him, embarrass him, or destroy his reputation.
But remember something important:
His wife is not making his decisions. He is.
If month after month and year after year he remains exactly where he is while asking you to continue waiting, that is also a decision.
Silence is a decision.
Delay is a decision.
Keeping you secret is a decision.
Choosing comfort over truth is a decision.
You may not like the answer, but sometimes the truth is simply that he has chosen the security of his existing life over the uncertainty of building one with you.
That does not mean you were not worthy of being chosen.
It means he did not choose you.
There is a difference.
Beware of the Smooth Talker
Some men know exactly what a woman wants to hear.
They tell beautiful stories.
They speak about destiny, soulmates, and futures together.
They tell you how different you are from everyone else.
They describe the home you will have, the places you will travel, and the life you will eventually share.
And for a while, those words can feel intoxicating.
But ask yourself:
Where is the evidence?
Has anything actually changed?
Has he taken responsibility for his situation?
Has he made difficult decisions?
Has he created a genuine path toward the future he keeps describing?
Or does every deadline quietly become another deadline?
Never confuse emotional intensity with real commitment.
A man can have feelings for you and still have no intention of changing his life for you.
That is why actions matter more than declarations.
Love Should Not Require You to Live in the Shadows
You deserve a relationship in which you are not waiting for stolen moments.
You should not have to constantly wonder when he will call, when he will disappear again, whether someone will discover you, or whether another birthday, Ramadan, Eid, Christmas, anniversary, or year will pass while you remain hidden.
Love should not reduce you to someone’s secret.
And love should certainly not require you to abandon your dignity.
There comes a point when waiting for someone else to become courageous begins costing you your own life.
The Truth Will Set You Free
Sometimes the hardest thing to accept is also the thing that gives you your freedom.
Maybe he loves you.
Maybe he cares deeply.
Maybe everything he told you about his feelings was sincere.
But feelings alone do not build a life.
Character does.
Courage does.
Integrity does.
Consistency does.
And action does.
So don't ask only:
“Does he love me?”
Ask:
“What is he prepared to do with that love?”
Because a man who repeatedly chooses fear, money, reputation, convenience, or social status while asking you to keep waiting is showing you exactly where you stand.
Believe what his behaviour is telling you.
Do not spend years trying to turn a fearful man into a courageous one.
Do not sacrifice your peace trying to prove that you are worth choosing.
And never build your future around someone else’s unfinished promises.
Choose the man whose actions match his words.
Choose honesty.
Choose courage.
Choose dignity.
And above all, choose the truth - because sooner or later, the truth always sets you free.
