Highlights from Carers Week 2026 ✨

Throughout Carers Week 2026, we had the pleasure of bringing Carers together through a range of activities, events and opportunities to connect, reflect and recharge.

From wellbeing sessions and creative activities to community events and shared conversations, it was a chance to celebrate the incredible contribution unpaid Carers make every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the week. We hope Carers Week helped you feel recognised, gave you time to focus on your own wellbeing, connect with others, and enjoy some well-deserved moments for yourself.

Our support doesn't stop here; Wandsworth Carers' Centre is here for you all year round.

Not every Young Carer is easy to recognise.

Behind school, friendships and everyday routines, thousands of children and young people quietly take on caring responsibilities for someone they love. From helping with daily tasks to offering emotional support, many balance far more than most people realise.

This short animation shines a light on the reality of being a Young Carer, the challenges they face, and why recognising and supporting them matters.

For Carers Week 2026, seven members of our Carer community shared their experiences of caring, the challenges they have faced, and the support that has helped them along the way.

Their stories remind us that caring can be rewarding, challenging, life-changing, and often unseen.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the voices of unpaid Carers and recognising the vital role they play every day.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the importance of building Carer Friendly Communities — places where unpaid Carers feel recognised, supported, and connected.

At Wandsworth Carers’ Centre, we believe no Carer should have to navigate their caring role alone. From advice and wellbeing support to training, activities and peer groups, local support can help Carers access the information, services and connections they need.

Together, we can create communities where Carers are seen, valued and supported.

🌼 This Dementia Action Week, Wandsworth Carers’ Centre would like to recognise the invaluable contribution dementia Carers make to both our community and the lives of those they care for.

This year’s theme is the Forget Me Not — a reminder that it will take all of us, together, to beat dementia.

Alzheimer's Society is encouraging people to share their personal Forget Me Not story and reflect on why they wear the symbol.

We’d also like to remind Carers that we still have spaces available for our Cream Tea & Reminiscent Boxes event (📅22nd May at Brathway Hall) as part of Dementia Action Week.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re supporting the NHS Know Who To Turn To campaign.

Mental health support is available across South West London — whether you need help for yourself or someone you care for.
