Many women both in my practice and among my close friends keep telling me the same thing:
‘We were taught to be nice, stay quiet, carry everything, and never show anger’.
But that unresolved anger doesn’t disappear. It stays in the body and the mind, and slowly makes us sick.
Your anger is not wrong. It’s a signal.
If you need a safe, gentle space to finally release what you’ve been carrying, I’m here for you.

Ageing literature consistently shows that only one in seven older adults is offered memory and cognitive assessment. Primary care physicians often lack sensitive assessment tools and guidance to detect cognitive and memory problems promptly. I offer tests sensitive to the early detection of Alzheimer's type dementia at my Harley Street practice in London. I also see my clients in Kent.

Validation therapy is frequently used in dementia care to redirect behaviour which is causing anger or frustration. In very general terms this type of therapy is based on a VALIDATION of the person's reality.

For instance, if a person suffering from dementia says:
'My husband is coming to get me'.
(Don’t say: 'Your husband is dead. He has been dead for years).
Instead ask:' Do you love your husband? What is his name?'

Dementia carers: change the negative view of challenging behaviour as disruptive. Instead, try to understand those behaviours as a need. All behaviours has a meaning. When challenging behaviour arises ask yourself: is it about pain, discomfort, illness, boredom, etc.?
