I’ve started to wonder how much online empowerment is just dependency in disguise.

I started noticing the same people buying the same things, just repackaged in slightly different language, then following the same coaches into the next group, the next offer, the next level.

And it just stopped making sense to me.

I couldn’t stomach it.

People spending thousands trying to learn how to make back the same amount of money they had already spent trying to learn the thing in the first place.

A never-ending cycle of learning, buying, preparing and searching.

I have worked in these spaces.

I have taught in these spaces.

And there are moments where it does not feel ethical to keep taking money from someone who has not moved forward from the previous advice, support, course or conversation.

Not because they are doing anything wrong.

But because at some point, more support is not always the most supportive thing.

I do not think most coaches set out to create dependency.

I think a lot of it happens unintentionally.

A bit like a mother who loves her child so much that she forgets that part of love is letting them go and make their own way.

I have seen people become so disconnected from their own decision-making that they struggle to move forward without constant reassurance, even when they already have support.

At some point, personal growth can quietly become the inability to trust your own judgement without reassurance.

And social media has only made this worse.

People feeling under pressure to figure themselves out faster. To heal faster. To become the version of themselves they think everyone else already is.

There is this quiet message online, like a constant hum, that who you are right now is not quite enough.

So people keep searching.

And while they think another strategy, blueprint, code or course is the answer.

They are actually looking for confidence.

Support.

Guidance.

Something that makes them feel less alone with the uncertainty.

Every day, people are handing their power away to those whose identity feels more certain than their own.

And while learning is good, support matters and guidance can change things.

The end goal should always be action.

Not more preparation.

Not more circling.

Not another package bought in place of doing the thing.

Self-development was never meant to become another place to lose yourself, and yet that is what I think is happening in front of our eyes for so many people.

No deep lesson is ever fully learnt from somebody else’s formula.

At some point, people have to stop endlessly preparing for their lives and actually live them.

Because rarely is another course, another coach or another breakthrough dressed up as a mother’s love the answer.

Action is.

Experience is.

Failure is.

Reflection is.

The most empowering thing a coach, mentor or guide can eventually say is:

That’s it now.

Go and try.

Go and fail.

Go and learn.

Then come back with reflections from your own life, not just notes from somebody else’s and certainly not mine.

On Thursday morning, amidst the thunderstorm, I reconnected with flow in the most glorious of ways.

I recorded a podcast episode the morning after lightning had felt like a bolt through the heart at 3.33am.

I went outside with no script or agenda and simply reflected on my week. I sat on my doorstep for 15 minutes with the elements, the birds, the thunder, the lightning and the rain and the timing is still blowing my mind.

As I paused to sip my morning coffee, the thunderous sky took over the episode. As I said the word spirituality, the sky thundered once more. And on my final words, the rain fell like a massive shower to clear the air.

It is totally unedited and completely serendipitous.

Give it a listen. I honestly feel like the energy of this episode has magical clearing and healing properties.

Have a beautiful weekend, in sync and flow.

This week my car broke down five minutes after I thought about getting a new one.

Naturally, my brain took this as a sign from the universe, a personal attack, and a financial crisis all at once.

Turns out it was £54 to fix. 😆

Which feels dramatically unfair considering the emotional journey I went on beforehand.

It’s been one of those weeks though.

A few awkward dynamics.
Some disappointing communication.
A couple of moments that made me question myself more than I should have.
Realising not everybody handles things with the same care or loyalty that I do.

And for a moment, I did what most of us do.

I started treating a difficult few days like they were evidence my whole life was falling apart.

But it wasn’t.
I was just having a grumbly week.

I think sometimes we forget we are allowed those.

Allowed to feel disappointed and emotional.
Allowed to need a minute before perspective returns.

Not every day is a breakthrough.
Some days are just:
“everything irritated me and tomorrow will probably feel better.”

And honestly?
Tomorrow usually does.

My car is fixed.
I’ve got a few days to reset.
The world didn’t end.
And I’m learning not to measure my entire life by how I feel on one difficult Tuesday.

The sun is shining, life goes on.

I've got a theory, the reason so many people feel unhappy is because there is so much pressure to optimise everything they are.

Stay with me...

Somewhere along the way, being human stopped feeling enough.

So much so that we’ve now got AI as a way to seemingly up-level.

And believe me, I’ve nothing bad to say about AI if it’s used in the right way and you don’t sell your soul to it.

But all I’m seeing right now is that everything has become something to improve, fix, upgrade, monetise or out perform.

Even rest now feels like something people are trying to do correctly.

The retreat. The mastermind. The soul alignment. The next thing that promises to finally make you enough.

But the truth.

None of it will make you feel enough until you realise you already are enough.

People are exhausted.

Not because people are lazy or unmotivated, but because they’ve absorbed this idea that peace only comes after they finally become the best version of themselves.

In my soul, I don’t believe people need another version of themselves to chase.

I think they need permission to stop running.

To stop proving.
To stop performing.
To stop measuring their life against someone else’s highlight reel.

Because I don’t think most people are craving more intensity.

I think they want stability. A quieter mind. Enough money to breathe. Work that feels aligned instead of consuming. Time with the people they love. Good health. Sanity. Peace and quiet.

A life that feels good when nobody else is looking at it.

You can be ambitious without constantly trying to prove you are succeeding.

You can want more without rejecting where you are now.

You can move forward without making your present feel like a punishment.

Perhaps real growth is not becoming untouchable, perfectly healed or endlessly productive.

Maybe real growth is being happy with your present and knowing tomorrow can still be better without pressure.

You can be grateful for a season and still know it is slowly costing you yourself.

I have outgrown many versions of my life.

But the biggest one recently has been giving too much of myself away.

Being too available.
Holding too much.
Carrying too much.
Pouring from an empty cup under the guise of strength.

Change does not always arrive dressed as inspiration.

It arrives as the quiet, breathless knowing that you cannot keep abandoning yourself and call it strength.

Grief changes you.
Exhaustion changes you.
Life changes you.

At some point I had to stop and ask myself:

What am I actually striving for?
What am I running from?
Why are so many of us chasing a version of life that never truly arrives because we are too busy searching for the next thing to appreciate where we already are?

So many people are chasing happiness while abandoning themselves in the process.

Missing moments.
Missing peace.
Missing their own lives.

You can outgrow a season and still be grateful for it.

That is not failure.
That is waking up.

Your vision was never meant to cost you your peace.

It’s easy for success and growth to become something you measure yourself against.

Another goal.
Another sale.
Another version of yourself you think you should be by now.

But your vision should never make you feel behind.

It should bring you back to yourself.

To what matters.
To what feels more you.
To what feels aligned.
To what feels like a life you actually want to live.

Yes, growth can stretch you.
Yes, creating something meaningful takes courage.
Yes, there will be seasons that ask more of you.

But you do not have to build your next chapter through pressure, exhaustion or self-abandonment.

You are allowed to want success that feels peaceful.
You are allowed to create from trust, not panic.
You are allowed to build a vision that gives you more of yourself, not less.
You are allowed to create from flow, not fire.

Because the life you are creating should not just be impressive.

It should feel good to come home to.

Hey there

Did you remember that you're allowed to begin again.

At any moment, any time.

You are allowed to change your mind.

To dream bigger.

To create a softer, calmer and more intentional future.

Because your future is not fixed.

And sometimes changing your life begins with changing the story you've been repeatedly telling yourself ✨
