WFSA - World Federation Of Societies of Anaesthesiologists Uniting Anaesthesiologists to Improve Patient Care and Access to Safe Anaesthesia

The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) is a unique organization in that it is a society of societies. By virtue of membership in their national society, an anaesthesiologist is automatically a member of WFSA. The objectives of the WFSA are to make available the highest standards of anesthesia, pain treatment, trauma management and resuscitation to all peoples of the world.

These goals are achieved through the work of the WFSA standing committees - Education, Publications, Safety & Quality of Practice - all of whose reports are available on the website. Sub-specialty committees on Obstetric anesthesia, Pain Relief and Paediatric anesthesia provide a focus on their particular areas of expertise.

🇮🇳 The ASPA Conference 2026, held in Vellore in collaboration with IAPA, brought together experts from across Asia and beyond to advance safe anaesthesia for children.
Organised by Dr Ekta Rai and her marvellous team, and endorsed by WFSA, the conference highlighted the importance of collaboration in improving paediatric anaesthesia and children's safety.

Since 1999, ASPA has advocated for safe anaesthesia for children across Asia, while IAPA has championed children's safety in India since 2006, connecting specialists from more than 20 countries.

Celebrating 30 years of WFSA Fellowships! 🌍

Dr Ekta Rai, WFSA Course Coordinator for Paediatric Anaesthesia at CMC Vellore and Chair of the WFSA Education Committee, shares her perspective on the impact of fellowships and the importance of supporting the next generation of anaesthesiologists.
