Join a special evening with Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi as we explore how faith can help guide our careers, strengthen our service, and provide meaning beyond professional achievement.

As healthcare professionals, we dedicate our lives to serving others. But how often do we pause to reflect on our own sense of purpose?

Set against the backdrop of the 10th of Muharram, this event offers an opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection with fellow Muslim professionals.

The GMC has opened a consultation on updated guidance relating to Personal Beliefs and Medical Practice. This guidance will directly shape how clinicians navigate faith, conscience, and professional conduct. The consultation closes on 11 June 2026. In parallel, the Department of Health and Social Care is also consulting separately on wider GMC regulatory reforms through the draft General Medical Council Order 2026, with responses closing on 23 June 2026; further details on this will follow. BIMA will be holding a webinar on both consultations and reforms on 3 June 2026.

BIMA has reviewed the draft GMC Personal Beliefs and Medical Practice guidance, and identified several areas of significant concern that risk restricting belief, undermining culturally competent care, and disproportionately impacting Muslim healthcare professionals.

We strongly encourage members to respond to the consultation before the deadline on the 11th June. You can access the consultation here:

Dr Mohammed Khanji talks to the BBC about the joint initiative between BIMA, and to install publicly accessible defibrillators in mosques across the UK.

So far, this work has led to:

β€’ 57 defibrillators installed
β€’ 300+ mosque staff and volunteers trained in CPR and emergency response

The project also builds on BIMA’s wider Lifesavers programme, delivering CPR and emergency response education in mosques and community spaces nationwide.

May Allah place barakah in every effort made to protect and serve our communities.
