📢 We’re recruiting: PA Recruitment Officer

Could you help disabled people find the right Personal Assistants to support them to live independently?

We’re looking for a proactive, community-focused Recruitment Officer to support our services in Croydon and Sutton.

You’ll recruit and support prospective PAs, match candidates with individual employers and build relationships with local organisations, colleges, job centres and community groups.

📍 Based across Croydon Council offices, local communities, our Kingston office and home
⏰ 30 hours per week, normally across five days
🏘️ Applicants should live in Croydon or within easy travelling distance

You don’t necessarily need previous recruitment experience. We’re looking for someone who understands their local community, communicates well and shares our commitment to choice, independence and the social model of disability.

🚌 “You made him feel secure, well equipped and brave.”

One year after completing Brent Independent Travel Training, one young person is confidently travelling to college by Tube—and using the bus independently when strikes disrupt his usual journey.

He has also started travelling by himself to weekly workshops in Willesden. His parent told us how the training and practice KCIL provided are now “blooming into an independent future”.

Accessible Welcome Space 💜

KCIL is honoured to open our doors on Tuesday 1 September ahead of the Celebration of Life for our Patron, Ann Macfarlane.

From 12.00pm–1.30pm, our offices will be open as an Accessible Welcome Space for anyone attending the service.

Visitors are welcome to:
• Use our fully accessible toilet facilities
• Enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and light refreshments
• Take a break and relax before the service
• Shelter from the weather
• Meet the KCIL team
• Share memories of Ann and learn more about her legacy

Congratulations to everyone who received their A-level results yesterday! 🎉

We’re especially delighted for one young person KCIL supported with his Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Despite difficulties preventing him from completing one part of his German A-level assessment, his performance in the remaining exams was strong enough for him to achieve a grade.

He is now looking forward to spending time in Germany, where he’ll be able to continue developing his German. We’re very proud of what he has achieved and wish him every success with his next adventure.

KCIL supports children and young people—and their families—with managing EHCPs. We currently work with families in Kingston, Richmond and Southwark, but we also provide support to families living in other areas.
