CB1 and CB2 are the two main receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS) inside our bodies.
Last week we talked about what the ECS is and what it effects.
This week, we're looking into the two main receptors in the body's endocannabinoid system. Endocannabinoids bind to these receptors to tell the body it needs to take action. 🏃➡️
Both receptors often work toward the same goal – homeostasis, or balance, just from different angles. For example, both play a role in managing pain and inflammation, even though they do it in different parts of the body. While they both work to keep the body in balance, their locations mean they focus on different jobs. CB1 mostly handles the brain and nerve signalling, and CB2 looks after the immune system.
