🤍 BODY IMAGE during pregnancy 🤍
🤍 Such a huge topic and one that comes up a lot with my clients (pregnant, pre and postpartum)
🤍 Pregnancy is a funny, old time. On the one hand, you’re over the moon and acutely aware of how lucky and privileged you are to be growing a human, and yet, on the other hand, many of us struggle with our rapidly changing bodies - growing bumps, swollen limbs, b***s the size of saucepan lids, hair loss, skin changes, trying to look vaguely presentable at work/social occasions…the list goes on
🤍 Your body is constantly commented on: ‘Oh, you look small’, ‘you’re carrying low’, ‘you’re a lot fuller for this pregnancy, aren’t you, ‘you must be carrying twins!’ We know that most people mean well and just want to show interest, but for a lot of women this can be hugely triggering - affecting how they nourish themselves during and after their pregnancy, which is SO important (the number of clients that expect me to put them on a weight loss plan following their birth is alarming)
🤍 Ladies, your nourishment before, during and after pregnancy is EVERYTHING - it effects the health of you and baby, ability to breast feed, mood, energy levels, sleep…our bodies are bloomin’ incredible - warts, stretch marks and all. Pregnancy (inc pre and post) is NOT the time to be cutting out food groups (unless required for medical reasons) or focusing on how you’re going to ‘snap back’ during the postpartum period
🤍 Pregnancy is the time to embrace your changing body, focus on the growth and health of you and baby, and remember how beautiful, soft and god damn sexy you are - don’t let anyone let you think otherwise.
