Lots of questions from my story about why on earth I use this plant so here you go!

This is more than an annoying plant that sticks to your dog / your leggings / you on every walk, it’s actually kind of magic. If you know me irl you know I love me a herbal remedy, my garden is deliberately planted so I can use the plants in my concoctions and potions, and right now this little beaut is ABUNDANT 🙌🏻

Cleavers (its proper name) has been used in herbal medicine for centuries and it’s not hard to see why once you understand what it does in the body.l, it really has so many benefits.

🌿 Lymphatic support: this is the big one and why I use it! When your lymphatic system becomes stagnant, you tend to feel a bit sluggish and cleavers is the plant you want. It helps support the body in a way that gets the lymph moving again. Less puffiness, less that heavy, stuck erghh feeling.

🌿 A gentle detox that’s been traditionally used as a spring tonic, a natural way to help the body clear out after the slower winter months. Your body is literally ready for this right now, very fresh, very GREEN tasting.

🌿 Supports kidney and urinary health as cleavers is a natural diuretic, it helps flush what doesn’t need to be hanging around.

🌿 Amazing for the skin and traditionally used to soothe conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis, with naturally cooling and anti inflammatory properties.l (great to use in ice cubes to run over the skin)

🌿 Energetically it’s considered a lunar plant, ruled by Cancer (My sign 🙌🏻) which feels very on brand for me 🤣 In truth it’s a cleanser, a releasing as it were, and it’s great for full moon magic!

The simplest way to use it? Cold infusion, stuff a handful into a jug of cold water, leave overnight, drink the next day. Blend as above and use in ice cubes to add as stock cubes for an extra does of goodness, for smoothies and to rub over inflamed skin.

Nature literally working its marvellous powers. Deffo more than an annoying w**d! Maybe don’t just pull it off and throw it away, use it! ✨✨

Is this what you needed to hear?

Sometimes we just need a little pep talk, a gentle nudge and this Moon is giving us another opportunity to have a proper look at things in our life that we KNOW are just getting in our way. This is about liberation, shifts, bringing in change and reclaiming yourself 💫

Come on, we all want that don’t we?!

You know what to do 🙌🏻

The final Full Moon of May is making her entrance, and this is like the book end to the month! A once in a blue moon opportunity to go deeper with the work, shake things up and release the crap that holds you back.

Intense yes ✅
Comfort zone pushing, yes ✅
Testing your limits, yes ✅
Shaking things up for the long game, absolutely ✅✅

This Full Moon is the illuminator, the big light being switched on and making you see the harsh truth. Enjoy 💫🙌🏻

There is something powerful about having a physical object that carries meaning, even if it makes no sense to others. An intentional object you can hold in your hands on the days when everything feels a bit meh. Something that says without words, without any effort, without having to think your way back to it that joy is real. I like to call this my joy anchor, my youngest made this years ago and whenever I see it, I smile because it reminds me of that time and his beautiful intention behind it.

And now it’s time to find your joy anchor.

Yours might be something you find today, perhaps something that calls to you on a walk, in a garden, in a quiet corner of a room you haven’t paid attention to in a while. A stone worn smooth by water or a small object from nature that feels like it has been waiting for you without either of you knowing it. Trust what you are drawn to without overthinking it. The body knows.

It might be something you already own, an object that has always carried a quiet significance, a felt sense of warmth or safety or joy that you have never quite given words to. A piece of jewellery maybe, something handmade, something so ordinary and so loved you’d never thought to call it sacred before now.

Or it might be something you make, something simple and entirely your own. A small drawing, something folded or tied or gathered. Something imperfect and handmade that exists nowhere else in the world because you made it, today, as an act of devotion to your own joy.

There is no right answer, there is only the thing that feels true for you.

Name what it represents to you, the quality of joy it carries. What it is an anchor to?

Find it a home somewhere visible, somewhere you will see it on the ordinary days, the busy days, the days when joy feels like something that happens to other people in better circumstances.

Let it be a reminder, not of what joy should look like, but of what it actually feels like for you in your body, in your life. Because joy needs an anchor just as much as we do. Something solid, real and present to return to when the tides of life pull us in every direction ⚓️ 🤍

Joy is not the absence of pain, it never was, and one of the most liberating things we can learn on this journey is that we don’t have to wait for the hard things to resolve before we are allowed to feel it.

Joy and pain are not opposites, they don’t cancel each other out. They can (and very often do) exist in exactly the same moment, in exactly the same body, in exactly the same life. We do not have to earn it by suffering enough first, or by having our life in a particular kind of order, or by being further along in our healing than we currently are.
They are not in competition, but coexist with each other.

Choosing joy alongside pain is not bypassing anything, nor is it pretending all is good and it’s definitely is not toxic positivity dressed up in spiritual language.

It is one of the most honest and courageous things a human being can do. To look at the full complexity of their life, to hold the grief and the gratitude, the struggle and the beauty, the weight and the lightness, all at the same time, without needing any of it to be different than it is.

So today, we practise exactly that.

Find your journal, and draw a line down the centre of a page.

On one side write: what is hard right now.
On the other: what is also good right now.

Don’t rush either side or minimise the hard to make the good feel more comfortable. Don’t dismiss the good because the hard feels more urgent or more real, give equal weight to both and honesty.

Don’t minimise the hard. Don’t dismiss the good. Just the whole truth at the same time.

Because that capacity to hold the full complexity of your own life without needing any of it to be different is not just a practice, it is joy. The deep, rooted, unshakeable kind.

You are not bypassing your pain by choosing joy. You are honouring your wholeness, your humanness and that is one of the bravest things there is 🤍

Day 9 ~ Lean Into Joy 🤩

Today we’re making a list, but perhaps not the kind of list you are used to making. It’s not a list of things to do or achieve or improve, nor a gratitude list or a goals list.

This is a pleasure list and it belongs entirely, unapologetically to you.

Take a moment and ask yourself, from an embodied, honest place:

What do I genuinely, truly enjoy? What actually brings me pleasure? What lands in my body as a full, unguarded yes?

This is about what actually, honestly, in the quiet truth of your own experience, feels good. Let yourself go wild and specific at the same time. The big things and the small things. The socially acceptable things and the ones that feel almost too ordinary or too indulgent to write down.

Write it all down. Every single thing. Without editing, without justifying, without the inner voice that wants to justify or minimise or ask whether you really deserve to want what you want.

Because wanting pleasure is not selfish and knowing what brings you joy is not indulgent.

And here is the most important part — once your list is written, choose one thing from it. Just one, and actually do it. Let yourself have it fully, without apology, without rushing, without one eye on whether you should be doing something more useful instead.

You are allowed to know what brings you pleasure and you are allowed to want it. And more importantly, you are allowed to let yourself have it 🙌🏻
