Get involved in the borough’s latest upcoming dance programme.

Starting later this month, the Havering Dance Classes for Adults includes Latin, Ballroom and Modern Line Dancing, so there is something for everyone.

All abilities are catered for, so whether you are an accomplished mover or just starting out, our expert tutors will keep you moving in a fun social atmosphere.

Sessions run from September 2026 until June 2027 taking place at both Trinity Reform Church Hall and New Windmill Hall in Upminster.

Classes are available in ten-week blocks, with prices starting at £59.

A powerful new film featuring lived experiences of Havering residents affected by su***de will be launched on World Su***de Prevention Day (10 September).

Stories of Hope aims to offer hope, challenge stigma and encourage open conversations about su***de and mental health in Havering. The film premieres at the Lumiere Cinema, Mercury Mall, Romford on 10 September and is open to the public.

Tickets are limited and can be booked for one of the two sessions via Eventbrite:

We've launched a consultation around proposals for a Borough-wide PSPO (Public Space Protection Order). This would give our officers & Police additional powers to place restrictions on specific antisocial behaviour where they are having a negative impact on our local communities.

The PSPO Would include restrictions around:
🍺Alcohol Consumption in Public Spaces
💩Dog Fouling and Irresponsible Dog Ownership
🛴Anti-Social Use of Bicycles, Mopeds, E-Scooters or E-Bikes
🚫Groups Causing Nuisance or Criminal Behaviour & much more

The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, has raised The Red Ensign flag to mark Merchant Navy Day (3 September).

The ceremony with borough representatives took place at Havering Town Hall, Romford, and paid tribute to merchant navy personnel, veterans, cadet forces and their families.

Merchant Navy Day also recognises the ongoing support provided by The Seafarers’ Charity to those who work, or have worked, at sea.

Merchant seafarers continue to underpin the UK economy, transporting around 95% of the nation’s traded goods while working in often challenging conditions.
