👦🏻 Patient complaining of his front teeth ‘sticking out’
👩🏻‍⚕️ This is a classic presentation of a class II.2 bite. The two upper central incisors are retroclined (tipped back) and the lateral incisors proclined with a deep overbite
🛠 Patient was initially treated with an upper removable appliance to reduce the deep overbite and procline the upper central incisors. We then fit upper and lower fixed braces to perfect the bite and align the teeth

Profile correction
This young lady presented with a 13mm overjet largely due to a retrognathic mandible (small lower jaw). She did NOT need surgery to achieve this result. I treated her with a functional appliance over 12 months and look at the transformation. Her lower jaw has been advanced forwards and now in harmony with the facial profile
She was over the moon with the result. It has made her so much more confident, she has even decided to audition for the lead role in her school play! ☺️

👩🏻‍⚕️Classic presentation of a Class II division 2. A skeletal class 2 with reduced vertical proportions and a soft tissue element of a high lower lip line. This has resulted in retroclined upper central incisors and proclined upper laterals, with a deep overbite and increased overjet

🔎We don’t usually look at teeth from this angle but can you see...The case looks relatively simple enough but if you look closer you will see a baby canine tooth in the top photo
🦷 The adult canine tooth was buried in the jaw bone so I used the a brace to pull it down into position. Her teeth are now perfectly straight and she now has a beautiful smile.
Note; the wire behind her teeth, it’s a fixed retainer. Keeps the teeth straight, otherwise they start to move back to their original position.

Venturing beyond the four walls of my surgery...
👩🏻‍💼 This is slightly off topic but something I feel is important to share with you all
🦷I treat children and adults everyday, but two years ago I decided to venture beyond the walls of my surgery and decided to volunteer at a refugee camp in Greece with a wonderful charity called Health-Point Foundation Dental/Medical Relief . This amazing charity have raised funds and supplies to allow refugees to access urgent dental and medical care.
⛺️📢 My clinic was a tent, my patient chair was a make shift table and my instruments were stored in Tupperware boxes. Every morning Reza, a 15 year old Syrian refugee, would walk around the camp site with a megaphone and announce that the dentist had arrived. He took great pride in this job, changing it up every morning... sometimes deciding to rap or sing the announcement! Suddenly there would be a queue of 50 people outside my tent waiting patiently to be seen.
👩🏻‍⚕️With the help of volunteers this clinic is able to function and help those in need. It was an eye opening experience for me, an emotional journey to say the least and one that will stay with me forever.
🏥I plan to go again in the near future and to any health care professionals out there I urge you to volunteer if you haven’t already

You can have hidden braces, also known as lingual braces. They are fixed to the back surfaces of your teeth, so no one ever has to know you’re wearing them😁🤫
I use 3M Incognito.
If you’re only concerned about your front teeth and they are only mildly crowded/maligned, you even have the option of a sectional brace which is cheaper and quicker.
