📣 Listen back to our Instagram LIVE with parenting expert Noël Janis-Norton, founder of Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting and Teaching.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Noël joined me to discuss practical tools for supporting children with ADHD, extreme temperament, emotional intensity, cooperation, self-reliance, self-esteem, screen dependency, sleep, nutrition, and calmer family life.

🤦🏻‍♀️This is such a helpful conversation for parents who feel exhausted by repeating, reminding, negotiating, nagging or shouting — and who want practical, compassionate strategies that actually support both the child and the parent.

💬 Noël shares simple tools including Descriptive Praise, Special Time, Reflective Listening and ways parents can begin to feel back in charge without constant conflict.

💿The links between music, neurodivergence and creativity are increasingly being discussed and this is a specific connection I’ve felt and recognised since the 1990s.

🪩In my mid-20s, I spent several years, promoting and hosting Saturday night parties in Berkeley Square, Mayfair. The night was called O.T.T (Over The Top) Promotions and included 2 floors of House & Garage, RnB, Soul and Funk, with long queues outside the door, everyone waiting to get in, to enjoy the music, to dance…these are undoubtedly some of my favourite memories of the younger me.

💃🏽For many neurodivergent people, music is freedom, it’s emotional regulation, combined with the release of powerful feel-good chemicals, working in synergy to feel great, the perfect environment to forge bonds, and meaningful human connections.

🫀Ive often spoken about why a bass line is deeply penetrating. And arguably primal. Think about it like this. The first sound a baby hears is the beat of his/her mother’s heart. This rhythmic sound signals safety, its grounding, and wraps a blanket around the nervous system.

🎤My initial insights between the links between music, neurodivergence and creativity came from stories from my dear friend, the late, great Stevie Hyper D. He would often talk about having dyslexia. His struggle educationally and his lisp which was unrecognisable when he lit up stages with his lyrical mastery.

👩🏻‍💻If you are interested in this subject, I have provided links to some of my own music and neurodivergent insights:

🙌🏼 Such an incredible day at the Brighton Music Conference 2026 and an absolute privilege to join such an important conversation on ADHD, neurodivergence, music, creativity and the realities of working in the music industry.

🧠 The ADHD panel was brilliantly moderated by Abi Lemon, alongside Jumpin Jack Frost, MEERA, Promo Zo, Silvia Montello, Brandon Block and myself featuring powerful conversations around ADHD, Autism, mental health, sobriety, burnout, and wellbeing in music.

✒️It was also wonderful to finally meet music journalist, freelance writer and DJ/producer Harold Heath, whose writing around these important conversations are grounded in honesty and depth.

🫶🏼 Huge thank you to for creating space for this important discussion, and to , and to for capturing these moments and always supporting!

🎙️ I am delighted to be going LIVE on Instagram with the incredible Noël Janis-Norton, Founder and Director of ‘Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting and Teaching’, on Friday 5 June at 2:00 pm UK time.

📚 Noël is a learning and behaviour specialist with over 50 years of experience in the U.S. and the U.K. as a head teacher, special needs advisor, teacher-trainer, parenting consultant, lecturer, coach, speaker and best-selling author.

💛 Noël is internationally known for her distinctive Calmer, Easier, Happier methods, which teach parents how to improve family life and guide teachers to bring out the best in their pupils. Her work combines common sense about children, extensive knowledge of child development, and deep expertise in learning and behaviour.

🧠 This LIVE is especially meaningful for me. Many years ago, following my son’s diagnoses of ADHD and dyslexia, Noël’s programme became part of our family journey. Her work helped us rethink parenting, learning, food, behaviour and self-esteem — and that journey later shaped my own path into nutritional neuroscience, ADHD and brain health.

📖 Noël’s bestselling books include Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting, Calmer, Easier, Happier Homework, Calmer, Easier, Happier Boys and Calmer, Easier, Happier Screen Time. Through her books, audiobooks, webinars, courses and consultations, she has helped transform the lives of tens of thousands of families.

🎙️ We will be talking about parenting, ADHD, neurodivergence, learning, behaviour, screen time, family life, education, and the practical tools parents and teachers need to create calmer, easier, happier homes and classrooms.

🌐 Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting and Teaching offers parent coaching for families, parenting webinars for organisations and schools, and teacher training.
