🔥 FIRE NEEDLING — AN ANCIENT TECHNIQUE WITH A POWERFUL STIMULUS
Fire Needling 火针 (Huǒ Zhēn) combines the stimulation of acupuncture with a very brief application of intense heat.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is used to warm the channels, dispel Cold & Damp, move Qi & Blood and open areas of obstruction.
🔥 Potential benefits include:
• Relieving chronic & stubborn pain
• Reducing muscular tension & tightness
• Helping painful joints & restricted movement
• Encouraging local circulation
• Warming Cold-type pain
• Moving Qi & Blood stagnation
• Dispersing Cold & Damp from the channels
• Stimulating stubborn Ashi / painful areas
• Supporting mobility & physical function
• Helping reduce post-stroke spasticity
• Supporting movement during neurological rehabilitation
• Providing a stronger stimulus than traditional acupuncture when appropriate
⚡ PAIN • STIFFNESS • SPASM • RESTRICTED MOVEMENT • REHABILITATION
In neurological rehabilitation, fire needling may be incorporated alongside Tuina, acupuncture, electroacupuncture and rehabilitation exercises to help stimulate movement and address pain, stiffness and spasticity.
🔥 HEAT + NEEDLE + STIMULATION
From a TCM perspective:
Warm the Channels → Move Qi & Blood → Open Obstruction → Relieve Pain → Encourage Movement
Fire needling should always be performed by an appropriately trained practitioner and is a complementary therapy, not a replacement for medical or neurological rehabilitation.
